Ryan Adams & the Cardinals - Jacksonville City Nights

Maybe it's just because it's such a relief to hear Ryan doing a Whiskeytown-style country album again, but, DAMN, this is good stuff. "The Hardest Part" is definitely a stand-out, and his version of "Always on My Mind" (from the iTunes version) is incredible...

His best album since Heartbreaker.

"Trains" kicks some serious ass too (should've listened to the entire album before I posted).

At certain locations, this comes with a Ryan Adams DVD titled 'September'. For those in Indy, Luna Music is supposed to be the only store that offers the DVD with the album. In glancing over it, the DVD looks like a nice bonus, but nothing too special, just a 20 min. 'short film' about the making of the album and a couple of audio-only demos.

Picked this up at lunch and I'm liking it so far. Hope it is as good as Cold Roses.

i like it so far, too. if he keeps putting out solid albums with the cardinals, i'll keep buying, even with them only a few months apart.

I've listened to it twice now and it's pretty solid. I kind of like Cold Roses a bit more though since those songs were a bit more upbeat to me.

Agreed. I like Cold Roses better, but JCN is still great.

I didn't like it when i first heard it about a month ago, but it's growing on me. It's a little too slow and Cold Roses is better.

Nice album, he definitely works well with the Cardinals.

How do we get that b-side "Always On My Mind" if we don't have Itunes? Is it on an import as a bonus track?

I believe its on either the UK or Japan version of JCN.

I always liked "Love Is Hell" quite a bit. This one's good but very different from anything he's ever done solo. Even "Heartbreaker" was more pop than this.

However, the songs are good, but quite slow, but if you like RA u should enjoy.
