March of the Penguins is finally showing at a theater near me, so I think I'll probably go see it this week.

Yeah for Wedding Crashers! I saw it last week pretty funny comedy considering most suck nowadays.

Batman Begins is crawling up to that $200m mark and should pass it this week. HELL YEAH! (It got an additional $6.50 out of me this past week, as it just started on IMAX here) The fact that both Batman Begins and Mr. and Mrs. Smith are continuing to pull respectable numbers, 8 and 9 weeks out respectively, is amazing. Especially when you consider how poorly action movies seem to be doing this year. March of the Penguins is doing phenomenally well, too, though it will probably start to fall a bit next weekend.

No need to comment on Dukes of Hazzard. Wedding Crashers held well and Sky High appears to have some legs.

Dang, Bad News Bears is falling hard.

Because people realized that it's a piece of shit.

If I was a teenager, I'd rather go to the excellent and underrated Sky High than Richard "I'm Making My New House Payment" Linklater's ham handed borefest.

No surprise that Dukes of Hazzard dropped a whopping 20% of its business from Friday to Saturday. Is that the biggest Saturday drop on a movie's opening weekend this year?

Tell us how you really feel.

I was sure Dukes was gonna bomb pretty bad (it looks horrible), but with Jessica Simpson in a bikini on every commercial, you can see why it made as much as it did. Sean William Scott and Knoxville are a good duo too, but still, the reviews are horid. I guess teens don't care...I'll see Simpson in the bikini when its out on DVD.

Some other notes:

1) So so glad Stealth bombed. Makes me very happy.

2) Island has $50 million made around the world, far off the $100 million+ costs. With DVD though, this movie will actually not be the bomb it was thought to be. Amazing what DVD sales/rentals will do. I predict people will be curious to see this one on DVD since it's just fallen off the map this summer.

3) Go Wedding Crashers. Amazing, no one thought that movie would have the legs it has. I loved it, and am really glad its the comedy hit of the summer.

4) Batman will cross $200 million; best movie of the summer, it deserves it.

5) War of the Worlds passes $224 million, $537 million worldwide.

But do people really go by reviews? I know I don't. Most of the time, if the review is bad, the movie will probably be a fun movie and is worth going to. To me, movie reviews shouldn't be given a consideration since they are so out of touch with what most people consider a fun movie.

March of the Penguins is now the second highest grossing (U.S.) documentary ever. Pretty amazing.

Do you think if the producers of the movie STEALTH would have pushed Jamie Foxx in the advertizing and taughted his Oscar in the advertizing the movie would have done better?
I remember when John Travolta had his Oscar nod in 1978 they would release his crap movies and put him in star billing even though he was hardly in it.
The movie DEVILS RAIN had him staring in it when he's hardly in it.

I go by reviews. I know when I'm going to see an action film it's not going to be Shakespeare but I still expect it to be good. Sin City got favorable reviews and it was the most fun I had this year at the movies.

Reviewers tastes, in general, are too middlebrow for me, but an 18% score on the Tomatometer will keep me out of the theater.

I just got home from seeing this movie and while I wouldn't call it shit, its still pretty mediocre considering the talent involved. That stupid girl almost ruined the film entirely.

Linklater is the only person involved with that film who has had a solid and unbeatable track record. However, none of his talent was present during that entire film. It didn't help that Billy Bob phoned in his Bad Santa performance either. The remake was simply an exercise in taking a tired concept and kicking it right into the ground. It also didn't help that the child actors were simply god awful. Easily one of the biggest disappointments I've experienced all year.

As I said when Bad News Bears came out, Kicking and Screaming is a far better film when it comes to the genre. And that's not saying much, however at least that film had scenes of intentional physical violence against young children.
