scarlett johannson vs. natalie portman. let the war begin

i'm not quite sure how scarlett is to natalie as lindsay lohan is to hillary duff on dvdtalk, but apparently it's true.

so lets hear it, tell me who should win this fight.

personally, as you might see as i liken scarlett to an anorexic, slutty, cokehead with a seriously deranged family life while natalie is likened to the generally cute, sweet and so far as i know normal hillary duff, i would expect natalie to destroy scarlett.

go natalie!!!

Tough call. I love both of their performance (and looks). But I have to give Portman a slight edge.

And this should be a poll.

Scarlett Johannson appears in much better movies. Other than Leon, which she did as a kid, what movie of any note has Portman starred in?

any note box-office wise, or critic-wise?

cause of course there's Star Wars (which had the wooden acting all the way around), but I thought she was VERY good in Garden State.

GARDEN STATE and CLOSER, to name two recent films she was aces in. She also had a great cameo in COLD MOUNTAIN.

Portman took her time, but she's blossoming now into something fantastic.

I never really pay any attention to box office figures. It's not really on my radar at all.

I know she was in the Star Wars movies, since I've seen them all, but they were all horrible movies with terrible dialogue and consequently no hope of decent acting. My hatred of Garden State knows no bounds.

ETA: Ack! I haven't seen Closer yet. I suspect she's quite good in it. Cold Mountain did nothing for me, alas.

Natalie Portman both performance-wise and looks-wise.

This really should have been a poll.

Portman is very cute and probably a decent actress (save "Garden State", none of her performances have ever really had an impact on me). She's like a kid sister... very cute, very sharp. I like this girl alot. She seems reliable. I'd let her babysit.

Scarlett, on the other hand, has taken the tough roles, and seems on her way to becoming a great actress. Plus, she's a knockout of a woman. Smart, sexual, with the affect of a true artist. I suspect these two are about the same age, but Scarlett seems sharper, wiser, sexier. I simply don't think the matchup is fair.

don't forget, Portman's performance was one of the better aspects of 'Beautiful Girls'

I agree. One has the cute girl next door factor and the other is a budding sex goddess.

As for acting I've only see SJ in In Good Company. She was decent. Not amazing, but passable. As for Portman, I think I've seen most of her stuff other than Closer. She is great (SW aside). She was the highlight of Beautiful Girls.

BTW, does SJ look like Laura Prepon to anyone else, in that pic?

Both are good and I don't really see the need for comparison, but I'd go with Scarlett. None of natalie's roles have stood out for me except Leon. I suspect they'll both be around in hollywood for awhile.

Both could get it

My vote goes to Scarlett. Though I am not really a fan of most movies either actress has been in I think i have enjoyed Scarlett and more of her movies.

Scarlett I love you, will you marry me???

I wouldn't mind seeing them duke it out in some sort of mud or jello fighting pit.

Man, who ever wins, we win also.

It's a tough call, but I'll have to say Johannson's boobies give her the win.

Hmm, tough call. Portman has been around for a while and I've liked her pretty much that whole time. SJ is more the newcomer, and in a way that probably works for her as one can get used to older things If I had to choose, I'd lean towards SJ at this point, but it's pretty damn close.

This isn't a tough call. Natalie Portman all the way. Besides, Lost in Translation what has Scarlett done? A Dennis Quad romantic comedy and a Michael Bay epic? Puhleaze! Natalie Portman is the better actress and the better looking actress.

I'm gonna forward this to the producers of THE PERFECT SCORE, EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS, and HOME ALONE 3. They will be thrilled to read that.
