Michael Jackson sells 8,000 albums w/ "new" release

I'll admit that I don't really have a handle on what good sales are in the pedophile genre, but this does seem bad.
MICHAEL Jackson’s new album sold just 8,000 copies in its first week in the US.
The greatest hits CD charted at a lowly 128 as fans snubbed the star.
The flop is a huge blow for Jacko, 46, who hoped to make a comeback after he was cleared of child sex abuse charges last month.
The Essential Michael Jackson was even beaten by 1970s star Carly Simon’s new CD Moonlight which sold 58,000 copies.
A spokeswoman for Neilsen Soundscan, which monitors US record sales, confirmed: “Carly Simon sold 50,000 more albums than Michael Jackson.”
The figures are a far cry from Jacko’s heyday when he sold 40MILLION copies of Thriller worldwide.
The singer has scarcely been seen since he was acquitted of abusing teenager Gavin Arvizo.
He was taken to hospital with dehydration after the trial and then fled America for a holiday in Bahrain.

Guess he should have added a new song or two.

Those numbers are pretty bad.
I bought the MJ box set for $10.75 from BMG (I used free CD vouchers and only had to pay shipping). I saw no reason to rebuy pretty much the same material.

I think the main reasons are a) he has too many greatest hits CDs out already and b) there wasn't a lot of advertising for it (at least not that I noticed).

With all these greatest hits collections that Michael Jackson is coming out with it appears his recording career is over. Oh well, atleast he has the child molesting to fall back on.

I have seen many of these 'Essential' collections, but heard nothing about this release, and haven't found it anywhere either...
Looking forward to a 'new' release, tons of stuff is still in the vaults...

Mike has a new album out?!?!?!?!?!
If he teams up with a good producer again and stops trying to self produce his half finished songs, he could probably sell again. But ANOTHER greatest hits collection? Even I won't pick that up. (And I have every CD he's done since leaving Motown.)
(Motown stuff is on vinyl.)
