I recently saw the Boondock Saints again, and I remember that I never exactly understood how the brothers got out of the handcuffs in the Don's house towards the end of the movie. It shows Norman Reedus lifting the cuffs to his arm, then Flannery kicks it and somehow they are free. Can someone explain this to me?

This isnt the first time a movie has left me confused and in need of some clarification. Se7en comes to mind. Just exactly what was on his leg in the photo during the "Lust" part?

What was on whose leg?

EDIT: If you're talking about the polaroid the cops got from the guy in the leather shop, there was nobody in the picture; it was a mannequin. And there was nothing on the leg of the mannequin; it was a custom-made strap-on with a large knife on the business end.

I've thought this through very carefully and I've come up with some answers..

-In the directors cut, the cuffs are changed to rope

I'd also like to clarify something... Boondock Saints is not a good movie. It is not meant to be taken seriously. It is indeed direct-to-video material. With no offense to the talented DaFoe, this is Dolph Lundren material here, folks.

I answered it, I THINK. There is not justification. It just happens. The writer obviously couldn't think of a way to free up a main character. So it just happens. A common occurance in crappy direct-to-video materiel.

Mildly jelous. But more angry than jelous. Kind of envious. But more angry than envious. Duffy get plucked from obscurity, and is given a modest budget ... for an awfuly seemingly-crappy movie. Maybe the script was better at one time? Then he goes haywire and can't control how he acts. To top it off, the movie just - isn't - good.

Till I get to make my movie, Boondock Saints and Troy Duffy will always be like a tragic lesson. A lesson on how to NOT fool myself into believing in a scripts with poor storytelling and holes like this one. A friend an I wrote crappy stuff like this, thinking we could some day sell them ... when we were, like, FOURTEEN YEARS OLD. And definately a lesson on how NOT to act when dealing with people in the business. Keep some composure, maaannn.

My assumption is that Flannery broke some bones in his hand, allowing him to pull the cuff off.

He slid the cuff up his arm and then placed his hand flat, edge against the back of the chair. I think idea is that the brother kicked his hand and broke it in order for him to slip off the cuffs.

I agree with troy, the movie rocks!

Yep, "wmansir" is right, the kick broke his hand so the cuff could slide off.

...and yeah, I'm with Troy also. I love the movie.
