There is a Mastercard commercial with a couple in a candy store but instead of candies the jars etc are filled with miniature electronics. In the background they are playing a cover of Pure Imagination from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It kind of sounds like They Might Be Giants but I don't think it's them. Does anyone know who does this version?

You can find a lot of these on Adtunes. Someone over there emailed Mastercard and here was their reply:

Thank you for your inquiry to MasterCard International.

We create original music for most of our advertisements. This means that a
music company hires musicians to create a new song specifically for the
advertisement. Unfortunately, there is no way to get a copy of this song
and in fact, there is no real song, just 30-45 seconds of music.

Well that sucks. I really liked that version too. The Ataris, Maroon 5, and The Smoking Popes have also covered the song, but the snippet from the commercial is probably my favorite. Aside from the original, of course.

I don't know the commercial, but Bone Thugs Harmony and Mariah do a version with the refrain in the background...

I actually did read that thread before posting here. It just seemed like to "generic" of a response from someone in the "Customer Service Center". While the answer might be correct and acurate...it could also just be some CSR's assumption that this is the case for all their commercials when it may not. So I figured I'd put the call out here to see if anyone knows anymore about it.
