Paige
Spoiler:
Too bad her and her brother seem just a bit too close for my liking.

This is the only season I haven't seen yet. I'm really looking forward to it.

I sure got my DVD Recorder at the right time. I'm recording every episode of every season

Yeah, me too. I bought mine when I found out they were going to re-air TAR, and it's been getting a workout. Season 2 is a great one! It's wonderful being able to revisit all these seasons at once.

And I'll still buy them when they get an official release.

I'm so glad I finally got a dvd recorder with a hard drive. My old one was a pain in the ass to get commercials out of - I had to do it on the Tivo while watching real-time.

I'm such a nerd that I made a custom TAR disc graphic for my printable dvds .

I'm not sure if I'll get the official release or not yet. If it has a boat-load of extras I most likely will. If not I may pass.

How is everybody getting commercials out of these recordings? My new TiVo DVD-RW burns directly to DVD without any available editing, so it's the full show. I have yet to find a good program to use on the computer to do so: either they don't cut at the spots you tell them to or the end result has audio-synch problems.

Chew, I have a DirecTiVo with a Panasonic DVD recorder. I edit the commercials out on the fly (a hard drive would be nice, but I'm watching anyway so it's not a big deal). I'm not too familiar with how the combo TiVo/DVD recorders function. Sucks that you can't edit out the commercials, as far as I'm concerned that defeats the purpose of TiVo.

I have a Pioneer 531 DVD-R with a 80GB HD. I record the show initially on a DirecTivo and then send it to the Pio HD. From there I have pretty damn good editing options, including a frame-by-frame option. I ususally do the regular editing though (1/2 sec) so I can burn at high speed instead of realtime.

The other great thing I like about the Pio is there are 30 or so different recording levels, all the way up to 10 hours a DVD, including custom levels. If there's 3 episodes for a dvd, I select level 19, which will allow 2h20m on a DVD.

The bad side of this unit appears to be the TV Guide epg built into it, but I have that disabled and only record from the inputs, not a rf feed from cable or antenna. This makes the epg problem not a problem for me. Really good deal for $337 in my opinion.

Not being able to edit commercials out of the Tivo combo just plain sucks

I wasn't quite accurate when I said "it's the full show". I also have a DirecTiVo and pass the show through to my TiVo DVD-RW harddrive*, so I do FF through the commercials. I was just hoping for something "cleaner" by not having them at all.

And if you want a trippy experience, try watching a show through two TiVo buffers. Yikes. You're 30-45 seconds into the show by the time your brain registers it, hits play, and it passes it to the source TiVo. That lasted all of a couple shows and I just went to the source input to avoid the headache.

*I already have two satellite cords coming into the living room, I don't want a third and another receiver just for the second TiVo.

I can't complain. It's was a $600 MSRP unit I got from Best Buy. They had a 50% off TiVo hardware coupon and a $200 MIR. I got it for $100.

In that case I stand corrected .

Signed up for an extra digital pack from the cable company yesterday to get GSN so that we can watch the next few seasons of TAR. I've seen them, but the rest of my family didn't start watching TAR until about season 5. Seasons 2&3 are 2 of the very best seasons. Thanks for the heads up on when season 2 starts.

Re. recording the shows: I have my directv receiver connected to a computer through an ATI All-In-Wonder video card. I record tv shows with ATI's multimedia center software, and edit them very quickly using a program called Womble MPEG Video Wizard - the best program I've found for editing commercials, etc.

Already found a team that I can easily root against. Mr. & Mrs. Flanders.

That mom must have taken forever to repel down that cliff.

Oh and I also can't fathom why one of the teams that was consistently in the last groups did not go for the FF. It was clearly available because I saw the green cards in the envelopes a couple times.

Thanks, I might give that a try.

Rather expensive though.

I'm hoping they don't win, because I want to see if they'll be as quick to blame Jesus for their failures as they are to credit him for their victories.

I'm no religious scholar, but I'm pretty sure Jesus doesn't really care who wins the Amazing Race.

I really like the one guy who looks like Andy Dick because ... well, just because he looks like Andy Dick. What more do you need?

the latest ATI X800...All-In-Wonders are pricey - but I'm still using an old 8500dv on my "Tivo computer" and it works fine for MPEG 1 or 2 recording (mpeg 4 would work if I had a faster machine). I also have a newer ATI AIW 9800 pro in my main box, which is still good for the latest games and for video projects, and I see it at newegg for $186 after rebate. You could also look at the ATI HDTV Wonder add on card, which I believe goes for around $130-150.

Damn - watching those grannies try to play volleyball would have been priceless. I can't believe they even considered it.

I already can't stand Wil. What a tool he is. I would love to see his ex hook up with the dude from Boston just to piss him off.
