George Lucas on the Apprentice to promote Star Wars DVD?

from davis dvd

Episode III

Say it ain't so, George! Rumor has it that filmmaker/mogul George Lucas will appear as an upcoming guest client on Donald Trump's reality show "The Apprentice." Word is that he will judge promotional ideas from the show's contestants for the upcoming DVD release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The losers hopefully will get Force-choked.

Ok, I'll believe it when i see it, but thought this was a strange idea.

Hey, I'd trust some of Donald's contestants to come up with BETTER ideas than "Yoda Man!" and "Who's Your Daddy?!"

Lucas is a classy guy. He wouldn't sink that low. Would he?

From TVGuide.com last week:

SITH SENSE: Donald Trump has hired Star Wars mastermind George Lucas to appear in the upcoming fourth season of The Apprentice. According to Advertising Age, Lucas will decide which team comes up with the better concept to promote the DVD for Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith. A lightsabre duel between Omarosa and Ereka Vitrini, perhaps?

Its not about sinking low. Its free marketing and in the quote above it says Trump "hired" him. Maybe he even likes the show (or his kids do). But, jeez don't bash him for this.

Like the DVDs willl need even more promotion. They sell themselves.

Donald Trump is an assclown. I think it's a shame for Lucas to co-mingle business with him.

You're talking as if Lucas wasn't an assclown himself.

I knew I should have tried out for THE APPRENTICE this season...here's one challenge I would have no problem being team leader of...

"Buy it NOW before George changes his mind and creates a lamer, less satisfying version..."

"Dude, I saw that Star Wars Episode III is coming out on DVD!"
"No way!"
"Total way! I saw it on The Apprentice last night!"
"Wow! I never would have known otherwise! Thanks, Donald Trump!"

Who has more money - Lucas or Trump?

Keep in mind, Lucas just made an ass-load of cash with episode 3 and the new original trilogy dvds.

I could win this easily... here's my "promotion concept":

Buy the Episode III DVD and get a coupon that allows you to order the original (non-SE) trilogy on DVD for $49.99.

Done.

Yes, I think that's correct. It's tough to even get an accurate net worth on Trump, because he's always going from negative to positive... but a couple of years ago, Forbes had Lucas at $5 billion. Trump was $2.5 billion.
