What was your favorite WHEN you were young in the movie theater AND on video? I'll assume it's not DVD since none of us were children then. For me...

In theater: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: man I loved this movie, was obsessed with it and seeing the sequel for years.

On video: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory: many good memories, seen it about 50 times on VHS. Can't wait to see the new one.

On video... well, since my first video tape was Purple Rain, I'll say that since I played the shit out of it.

Pre-home video.. A Little Romance on HBO. Saw that thing so many times, I dunno why I kept watching it. (Other than a cute Diane Lane.)

In the theater: Terminater 2 saw it numerous times, I always tried to find plausible ins to a sequel (none of which were used for part 3)

on video: The Goonies watched it at least once a week for what seemed like years.

I guess my taste hasn't changed much cause I still love these two movies.

[old man rant]Back in the old days, we didn't have these new-fangled video MACHINES. We had to watch Wizard of Oz on TV Easter weekend and March of the Wooden Soldiers on Thanksgiving weekend. That's the way it was and WE LIKED IT![/old man rant]

Hell yes! Back when, WSS was usually only on once a year, right around the time of the Academy Awards. I made sure to watch it. I have it on video and DVD now, and watch it at least once a month for more than fifteen years.

Big theatrical movies for me were Alligator and Private Eyes with Tim Conway & Don Knotts. Sweet.

In theatre: In Search of the Castaways. As a kid, I went to see this several times.
VCR: What is that? Unfortunately, it didn't exist at that time.

not any specific favorites but I loved watching classic Westerns (John Wayne, etc.), War, and Adventure (Errol Flynn, etc.) films; Abbott & Costello; 50's (and more) Sci-Fi; Harryhausen stuff like "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad", "Jason & the Argonauts", "Mysterious Island", etc.; Japanese monster movies; and probably more that escapes me at this moment.

When I was a kid in the 60s it was the James Bond movies. There was no video and they didn't make to TV until 1972 after the seventh one. When a new one was released I go see it as many times as possible, and sit through it twice. Thankfully it was always Christmas or summer when school was out. Same with the double feature re-releases, would go see them over and over also. Couldn't get enough. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I would someday be able to own the movies on video, and now dvd and watch them whenever I felt like it on a big widescreen tv.

The summer I turned eight, we moved to a new city. I as of yet still had no new friends, a new school to look forward to, and basically had my entire world as I knew it swept up from underneath me. Thankfully, Larry the movie theater guy let me into Spaceball for free on my birthday, and being such a huge Star Wars fan, it actually seemed to help me with my transition to a new city. Eight years later, I worked at said movie theater.

When I was three, my family bought a VCR, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and The Blues Brothers. I've pretty much been raised on those two films since age three, which actually explains a lot.

Didn't see a lot of movies as a kid. Star Wars is my first movie memory, and therefore was probably my first favorite.

But the first time I saw Aliens, that was it. Greatest. Theater. Experience. Ever.

I've probably watched it 100 times on various forms of video and I still think it's a damn near perfect action movie.

When I was a kid my favorite movies were Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, and The Godfather. Although I saw most of Spielberg's 70s output when they were released in theaters, the only one I cared much for was Jaws, and I detested Star Wars when I saw it. Still do.

They didn't have VCRs when I was young.
