Best Russell Crowe Movie?

After rewatching "The Insider" again tonight, I got to wondering, which Crowe film do you guys think is best. I'm going LA Confidential.

Master & Commander. My fav movie of that particular year it came out. I can't really pinpoint what I like about the movie so much. I love that it was an epic sea adventure that also dealt with issues of scientific discovery. It was Paul Bettany's finest performace, in my opinion.

Virtuosity.

I guess that falls under "other".

Mystery, Alaska. Next choice would be the Insider.

Tough call, considering he's one of my favorite actors. I voted for Proof of Life as my personal favorite, but I suppose I would consider A Beautiful Mind to be his "best" movie.

Is this supposed to be the best film that Russell Crowe was in? or the film that had the best Russell Crowe performance in it?

to me those are 2 very different things, and I have 2 different answers.

Good Point. I guess I'm thinking best performance. That's why I went LA COnfidential, followed by the Insider.

Are we talking Crowe's best performance or the best movie he's been in?

His best performance would be a toss-up between The Insider and Master & Commander.

His best movie, however, is probably LA Confidential.

I voted Master and Commander, followed by L.A. Confidential.

I think his worst movie was Virtuosity, an amazingly stupid movie.

And count me in the distinct minority that thinks The Insider is very overrated (although Crowe's performance in it is great, as usual).

I'd have to say, Master & Commander followed very closely by The Insider and then L.A. Confidential.

Of the ones listed, I'd say "A Beautiful Mind". I never liked him much at all until I saw that one. Two others I've liked but that didn't make the poll are "The Sum of Us" and "Breaking Up".
