New Edition of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm--Repackaging w/Keepcase or SE?

Just found this over at DVD Planet:

http://service.bfast.com/bfast/click...653&format=DVD

Looks to be probably the same edition as is currently out, but the enlarged cover photo with the new banner at the top, and the fact that WB doesn't do snappers anymore (with a few exceptions) leads me to believe that this is a keepcase release.

Love the movie, and it's too bad that there don't seem to be any new special features (unless they simply haven't been announced), but I am excited to get this in a keepcase...I don't want my current snapper bumping up against the upcoming new Batman SEs (possibly on the same day as this...?).

EDIT: Just checked over at Amazon, and they also have it listed:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...v=glance&s=dvd

Looks to be a keepcase for sure...but will there be new features? Probably not....

The current version is anamorphic. But a new transfer would always be welcomed.

The new Batman Beyond Return of the Joker DVD that i have has the same banner and the same contents of the previous release, so it would make sense that it's just a re-release in a keepcase.

Well, does this mean that WB is going to reissue all of the single Batman movies in keepcases? Like Sub-Zero?

Is WB re-releasing the PG-13 version too, or just the TV cut?

Yay! Now somebody can scan the covers so I can get them printed for my snappers from the DDDVD sale.

This is the version that I got of this movie through DDD, I ordered it during the 20% off sale. It's in a keepcase and on the back it says "NOT RATED", but that isn't anywhere on the front of it.

Is it 16x9 now? And have you watched to confirm it's uncut?

thanks

I haven't watched it, but it says "THE ORIGINAL, UNCUT VERSION" and 77 minutes on the DVD itself, but lists a time of 76 minutes on the back of the DVD case. However, on the back of it it says:

"STANDARD VERSION", blah blah blah.

Yet, again, on the disc itself it says WIDESCREEN.

I'll try to play it soon.

I've never seen this, but with all the talk of Batman: The Animated Series coming up b/c of Batman Begins, I may have to look into some of these. Thanks for the heads up about this release.

Well, I had a feeling this might happen sooner or later. This is why I have put off buying the X-Men Evolution and Justice League discs because they're currently in snappers and any new ones would probably be in keepcases.

These might also be worth buying to show WB that there's an interest in re-buying discs in keepcases to replace snappers, as long as the prices are reasonable (and B:MOTP is about $10.94 at Amazon right now).

A snapper won't keep me from buying a great movie, but it also doesn't mean that I like them or that I won't replace them at the earliest possible convenience.

I'm gonna hold off on any Batman Beyond releases with the hope that they'll be included in the inevitable boxset.

It figures, a week and a half after I finally broke down and bought Mask Of The Phantasm too.

I figured it wouldn't be released as a special edition on in a keepcase when I started this thread last year.

Oh well, guess that's the way it goes sometimes. I guess it is good news since snappers suck. Although I'm now glad I haven't picked up Subzero yet.

Oh sure, no one takes my word about Batman Beyond

I picked up Phantasm from DDD along with Beyond, and am a bit dissapointed to see a keepcase coming out now. Ah well, just a case.
