A new version of Frankenstein?

After the rather disastrous Kenneth Branagh version of Frankenstein, and the Van Helsing cartoon strip version of the tale, will Universal ever consider a new version of the Mary Shelley novel that spawned a whole host of movies?

Which version of Frankenstein do other forum readers consider the finest movie?

I would always go for The Bride of Frankenstein
Frankenstein
The Son Of Frankenstein
The Curse Of Frankenstein

as my top four!!

I voted for the original movie with "Bride" a close second. But much like the Superman films only 1 and 2 count as the rest were garbage. With that said, what was wrong with Kenneth Branagh's version? It was closer to the book than any of them although it still changed many things.

Frankly, after having read Mary Shelley's book even the Classic 1930's version is somewhat of a joke to me. I mean it's still good but it's -NOT- the same story of Frankenstien's Monster and it never shows just how intelligent and emotional the "monster" in the book had become. The "monster" in the book was far more scary looking yet,IMHO, he's still a beautiful creature because of what he becomes.

I didn't mind the Branagh version, but there appeared to be plans for Universal to make a full CG movie (Kinda like Final Fantasy) with the classic monsters.

But it looks like they went for Van Helsing instead.

Here's the test footage for the feature:

That's what I was wondering......
It's the closest thing to the book that has been put on film to this point.

Remaking The Mummy as a live action movie turned out a nice profit.

How about a live action/CGI mix version of Frakenstein?

That CGI test footage shows what can be done and since that was "shot" or created, computer animation has come on in leaps and bounds!!

I'd love to see that version continued into a short or full length feature. A new version could be done in a mixture of live action and computer generated special effects, just like the new upcoming remake of King Kong by Peter Jackson.

It was also one the most DEPRESSING movies I've seen in recent years...but loyal to the story, no doubt.

You mean, like, The Elephant Man? Interesting.

I've seen bits and pieces of the newer versions. I prefer Young Frankenstein.

Which is the one with Dracula and Wolfman along for the ride? Not the Abbott & Costello one.

Was it House of Frankenstein?

Well, if it was a female hunchback then it's House of Dracula (Talk about a guilty pleasure!)
