Idealy I think remaskes should be done of films that have a wonderful idea and terrible execution. On that line I have:
Death to Smoochy and Welcome to Mooseport

I still think I could succesfully helm the remake of Jurassic Park. As a huge fan of the book, I was extremely disappointed in the movie, which contained maybe about 25% of the book.

Oh, and Odishon will be remade.

Honestly, how many movies are even close to 100% faithful to the book? I loved Jurassic Park the movie and Jurassic Park the book. I just understand the fact that they're two different mediums. A movie based off a book is really just the director's interpretation of the book and he'll change, add or take out what he feels is neccessary to make a good movie. If you want a page by page retelling of the book then more than likely you'll just have to stick with the book. Besides, most books are so much information in them that the movie would be 10 hours long. How are you supposed to translated 500-600 pages into a 2 hour movie? Just because something works in written form doesn't mean it can be translated to a movie.

or you could have the 4 and a half hour stephen king version of the Shining if you want a 100% translation of hte book to screen.

That was also a made for TV deal, and Jurassic Park would require a very big budget. Especially when you consider some of the stuff in that book. I don't care if it is 25 years from now, made for TV stuff (minus the premiums) will always look cheap.

20-30 years? You just know they'll take something like Fargo or LA Confidential and stick the latest Ashton Kutcher in it with a more "contemporary flavor."

Finally, the Dancing Dildos from The First Nudie Musical will return!

Mr. and Mrs. Smith is so generically titled that I could see someone making another movie with that title at some point, but it may not have anything to do with the film currently in theaters.

You must really hate the Bourne movies then. Or any movie based on a Clancy novel. Do you honestly want a movie that contains 100% of the book? They're two different mediums. It's called an adaptation for a reason. You should probably stay far away from Da Vinci Code too.

these ARE remakes

The Lord of the Rings movies captured the essence of the books. So please let's stop with the book cannot be filmed excuses.

Captured the essence yes, but a 100% faithful retelling of the Lord of Rings would not only be impossible to film, it would be 25 hours long and cost 1 billion dollars.

And both The Longest Yard (Mean Machine) and King Kong (erm.. King Kong) have other remakes.
