old school hip-hop heads - check out edan
Just picked up the latest Edan LP "Beuty and the Beast". For any fans of hip-hop from years ago, who are dis-illusioned with todays bling-bling fare, I say pick up this album. Its a throwback to when hip-hop was fun to listen too. The beats are tight and the lyrics are great. The is by far the best hip-hop album I've heard in a long time. I felt like I was a 20 year old kid again walking around university halls listening to beats.

Definitely! I heard a few tracks off this a few months ago, and finally picked up the cd a couple weeks back...it's a great album and a great group for sure. Glad to see some people listenin' to actual hiphop!

What other "old school" artists does this sound like?
Are we talking more of a Sugar HIll Records kind of vibe, or more of a West Coast party hip-hop revival, like J5 or Ugly Duckling?

wow, I just checked out his pics online...I"m really surprised to see he is white, or at least that white looking...hah....he flows really well and has a great rap voice.
Now that I listen to this cd more carefully and more often, I see a lot of older school sounding elements in it. Less of J5 and more of 80's hiphop. It's got a lot of funky beats and a great deal of old rock and roll samples. But there's something about some of the songs that remind me of J5 type of hiphop...maybe it's the guest spots by people like Mr. Lif. Either way, it's a great album.
