Some of my fondest memories are of growing up in Niagara Falls. There was a US station across the boarder that was constantly showing the old Universal Monster movies, old sc-fi movies, and King Kong. For some reason, my parents seemed to think it was a good thing I was interested in this stuff, as I was allowed to stay up till as late as 11 o'clock to watch them. I remember seeing King Kong this way, the house completely dark, the blue light from the TV shimmering against the walls making it look like I was under water.

I am amazed there are people who haven't seen this.

Been a long time. I love the look of the film and the stopmotion animation is great, although I remember getting really tired of Fay Wray screaming all the time.

Used to watch it a lot when it came on Cinemax when I was a kid. Have most of it memorized!

I always thought the scene with Kong fighting the T-Rex was golden. I hope PJ gives us another shot of Kong getting the Rex in a rolling suplex.

Since horror films were my first interest in movies (Yes, this movie was labeled as a horror film in one of my horror-compilation books) I first saw it on video in the mid-80's and, like Groucho said, have re-vistited it here and there on TCM.

I still get a kick out of the girly screams that the expedition team lets out during their encounters with Kong and the dinos.

Yes, the oldest movie that I have ever seen... can't wait for the dvd since I haven't had a VCR in 5-6 years... I was always a dino nut growing up, so the Skull island scenes sold the movie for me. I'm glad that P. Jackson is keeping dinos in the new one as well!! Can't wait! I'm assuming that the release of the original version on dvd will have movie cash for seeing the new one. (At least I'm hoping, lol)

This movie is incredible on the big screen. Kong on TV looks like an 18" puppet with fingerprints. On the big screen, he looks lifesize and wind is rustling through his fur.

Also, Fay Wray has THO the whole movie. Now I see it on tv, but didn't notice it until I saw it in a theater.

I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't. I've only seen the remake version with Jeff Bridges. Quite awhile ago at that though.
