SHALLOW HAL vs SCHOOL OF ROCK
If you were trying to turn a friend onto actor JACK BLACK, and you only had Shallow Hal and School of Rock to present to "clue-less friend," which film would you wholeheartedly recommend to turn your friend in to a Jack Black fan?
*Personally, I enjoyed Shallow Hal and didn't care too much for School of Rock. I don't particularly care for films where the kids take over the majority of the scenes.

School of Rock all the way. From what little I've seen of the other movie, I'm not really in a hurry to rent it. Whereas School of Rock is something I can pop in when I want some quick laughs.

I think School of Rock is a fun, accessible and funny film. A movie that yes, stars kids, but doesn't suffer because of it. Jack Black is great in a solid Linklater movie.
Shallow Hal...is ok, mildly funny, Gwenyth looks good in a thong...but School is the better movie by far. Orange County is a decently funny movie too though with some good Jack Black in it. High Fidelity is also a great choice.

As has been said before, If I were trying to turn someone onto Jack Black, I'd get them High Fidelity or School Of Rock. WIth School Of Rock being the preferred first film they watch.
