Recommend Movies Similar To..

Firstly, I'm sorry if this belongs in another forum..all apologies.

I'm actually wondering if any of you could recommend some films similar to Ghost World, Orange County, The Girl Next Door...really like the classic novel Catcher In The Rye. I'm sort of looking for movies that deal with a male character or female character that has problems, situations that happen to him/her and then deals with them. Another one I can think of is Igby Goes Down. I hope thats enough examples to get some help.

Thanks.

Hmmm. I can't think of a single movie where this happens.

Yeah, I know that description was too broud but I'm looking for Catcher In The Rye kind of subject lines. That quirky kind of movie, the Good Girl is actually something I forgot about, thank you for that.

I have never seen The Girl Next Door but I'd bet good money that it does not have much in common with Catcher in the Rye. I love Orange County, but again no connection. Ghost World....ehh not really plot points but mood might be similar.

If you're a big Rye fan see Conspiracy Theory. Good movie that has a small plot point involving the book. What about Napoleon Dynamite? It seems to fit in with the films you suggested. Oh and how about Shaun of the Dead? It has a male character AND a female character that have problems, situations that happen and then they deal with them. It has absolutely no relation to the kind of movie you requested but it kicks all ass and it has Dawn from The Office.

Well, The Girl Next Door was strongly influenced by Risky Business, a much better movie that also matches your other criteria.
