Best Kung Fu flicks out there

I want to take advantage of DDD's latest sale to buy some really good Kung Fu flicks. So I want to know, what are some of the best Kung Fu flicks out there that you could recommend? Thanks!

I think if you have a region free DVD player, you need to check out the Region 3 DVDs releases of the old Shaw Brothers movies.

I'll state the obvious and look into some of the movies from Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Bruce Lee.
- Fist of Legend (R1 version is dubbed and edited however, is still a good movie)
- Legend of the Drunkenmaster AKA Drunken Master 2 (same thing with this dvd)
- Enter the Dragon

Edit - Just disregard what I said about the Shaw Brothers movies. I missed the part that you were buying the dvds from the DDD sale.

I already have Iron Monkey and had Magnificent Butcher in my shopping cart, I just added Warriors Two and Operation Scorpio, thanks!
It's hard to find old school Jackie Chan movies... his news ones are everywhere, but I dont like those, they take place in the present and are mostly comedies. Also, great movies by Jet Li are confusing most of them have the same title, and not all of the are good, i'm just trying to find the cream of the crop.
I prefer those old school shaolin monks versus the long white haired old masters that kick total a$$! Actually, anything that kicks total a$$ is good by me!

Check out this thread for the Fox/Fortune Star dvds. I hope it helps you with some of your choices.

Avenging Eagle

My all time favorite Shaw Bros/Chang Cheh film. Followed closely by Heroes of the East (aka Shaolin vs Ninja aka Challenge of the Ninja).

Well, not exactly "any movie" because of the films finished after his death, which are all best avoided except for diehard fans.

Just get the 4 Martial Arts films he actually completed before his death:

- Fists of Fury (aka The Big Boss)
- The Chinese Connection
- Return of the Dragon (aka Way of the Dragon)
- Enter the Dragon

And the documentary Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey (which is available separately, or as an extra on the Enter the Dragon 2-Disc Special Edition).

I cannot believe nobody has mentioned my all-time favorite old school kung fu classic Master of the Flying Guillotine.

One of, if not THE best Region 1 kung fu movie available. One of the most iconic kung fu films ever made with maybe the greatest weapon ever. Plus one of the truly great sound effects, plus the Anniversary release has a very informative commentary. Trust me you will love this movie, it is EXACTLY what you are looking for.

I meant Magnificent Butcher rather than Iron Fisted Monk.
