New Foo Fighters CD COPY PROTECTED!!!
This is total bullshit. I spent $9.99 at Best Buy for the new Foo Fighters cd and then try to put it on my ipod and the whole thing sounds like it's skipping even though when I played it in my car it was fine. This is crap.

That is crap. I downloaded the whole album before hand and bought it this morning, so my iPod has all the foo fighter goodness anyhow... disappointing that record companies don't think of the HUGE iPod/mp3 owning fanbase who is actually buying these albums and wants to listen to them on the go.

How stupid. I put the cd in hit agree and then there was an option to copy them to your computer. I did then and saved it on my computer. I opened itunes tried to add files to library and when i tried to add the .wma files to itunes it said copy protected. What a load of shit. I hope this trend doesn't continue because the person who buys the cd should have the right to put it on their mp3 player and make ONE backup copy.

Funny thing is ALL 3 of these can be bought on iTunes.

Just hold down shift before putting it in and it won't install the driver.
If not google for instructions on how to disable the driver, it's not that difficult. Annoying, but I still buy cds as I listen to music in my car a ton, they sound better, and I like having the actual CD and liner notes.

With Media Max, you can rip the songs to your computer for use in windows media, then from windows media, you can burn a compilation with all the songs...then you take that burnt copy and import into itunes.... load up your iPod and you are set.

Assuming this is the same media max protection as on other cds, here's the instructions on how to disable it.
Start with a Windows 2000/XP system with empty CD drives.
Click the Start button and select Control Panel from the Start Menu.
Double-click on the System control panel icon.
Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
Configure Device Manager by clicking "Show hidden devices" and "Devices by connection," both from the View menu.
If MediaMax has never been started before on the same computer, the SbcpHid driver should appear on the list for the first time. However, on some systems Windows needs to be rebooted before the driver becomes visible.
Next, follow these additional steps to disable MediaMax:
Select the SbcpHid driver from the Device Manager list and click "Properties" from the Action Menu.
Click the Driver tab and click the Stop button to disable the driver.
Set the Startup Type to "Disabled" using the dropdown list.
Restart computer

I dont know how IPods work. I have A Creative Zen Nomad, and I copied it to Windows Media player, then from there to my Nomad.
Dont know if you will be able to do that with IPod, but I couldnt get it to DL normally.
Its on there fine now though.

If it's media max, the above directions should work to disable it even if you installed it.
If that isn't working (i.e. that driver isn't showing up) then it's some new copy protection software and your options are:
1. Wait a few days and keep googling for "disable copy protection" and "foo fighters" until someone figures it out.
2. Just go to a different computer, hold shift when you put in the cds, and rip them there. I can atest that this works fine as I just did it myself.

You'll lose a good bit of quality by doing that though mdc3000, so that's not a good option for people that want a higher quality mp3 than the original WMA files you get through the copy protection.

The SHIFT function no longer works on this generation of MusicMax CDs. Foo can kiss my ass. I didn't care for the album anyway, and after this they aren't getting my money.

Well isn't this a shitty little situation...I now own 2 cds that are useless to me unless I'm listening to them at home...I can't wait until someone cracks this shit so I can put it on my player.
