$50,013,859 Box Office just for Thursday!

Numbers just went up on http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/days/

This smashes the single day opening, single day (any), Thursday, and is on the way to biggest weekend, and fastest to $200M (probably will tie fastest to $100M with 3 days)

Very impressive.

I do think that it's gonna suffer a slight drop off since all the fanboys saw it on opening day. I'm prediciting about $110 million for Friday - Sunday

Agree that we may see a drop but I think a lot of fanboys will be seeing it a few times this weekend alone plus all the other people who wanted to wait until the weekend to see it and the numbers may not fall all that much. I was able to see it opening night and will likely go again with my wife who really wants to see it (an she hated the last 2 movies). Word of mouth is good enough that I think this movie will have some legs.

I wonder if this film will hit 500M mark. I don't see it passing Titanic, would love to see that...but I don't see that happening sadly.

I'm thinking even lower than that. I still hold to somwhere in the 90s for the weekend, and still 375 million total.

I wonder if this film will hit 500M mark.
Absolutely no chance.

AOTC made $310M total....plus the film didn't have has much buzz as ROTS. If anything 450M for ROTS

Biggest ever Mid-night showing w/$16.5m (previous was around $6m)

Biggest first day ever w/$50.01m (previous was $42m)

Biggest Thursday ever w/$50.01m (previous was $44m)

Yeah, but I see it dropping off, even with this one being better and more people liking it. We'll see. I'm not very good at these box office predictions.

I'm going 30/40/30 mill for the wknd. Minus the midnight 17mill take, were looking at 33million for thurs.

I see a 400mill gross in the future... which would place it right in-between TPM and AOTC, with 500 and 330mill adjusted respectively.

Yeah, but the midnight totals counted in Thursday, because at 12 AM Wednesday night is actually a Thursday.

Yeah, but it's already been pirated. Obviously the box office will now drop off to nothing and that dude that paints the sets will be out of work. Damn pirates!

it opened at 12:01 AM, not 12 AM so it was technically Thursday (at least in NYC Theaters).

Nice. I think next weekend's returns will be the determining factor of its staying power though.

yikes, not bad at all. I think people predicting the lower $$$ figures for totals need to take into account that III is better then I and II... will have MUCH better word-of-mouth and its the last one... I know I'm going to see Ep III again with my dad... but then will catch it at least one more time before it leaves theaters. I mean, its the LAST big screen SW... that is such a huge deal to us fanboys. I dunno about anyone else, but when I see the "...far far away" and then the music kicks in with the crawl I just about cry. I have watched SW on my dads nice HDTV big screen with a good sound system, and it just isn't the same. Anyway, it it hits half a billion I wouldnt be surprised at all. AOTC had a bunch of other big flicks surrounding it... right now in theaters, ROTS stands alone and nothing REALLY significant is coming along until Batman Begins.

If it did $33 million on Thursday night alone, it will do much better than that on Friday and Saturday. I say easily $40-50 million each of those days.

Hey genius, it doesn't matter. !2:00 am or 12:01 am are both Thursday. The new day starts at 12:00 am. That's why it switches from PM to AM.

"You lack of faith is disturbing."

I think after a $50mil opening day, $500mil is a definite possibility.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say $140mil for Fri-Sun

Since this is supposedly the final Star Wars movie, I assume fanboys will be seeing this over and over and over. I'm not an overly huge fan, but I think I'll see it a couple times. I'm guessing by Sunday the estimate will be at least 150m total (all days), could be close to 175m.
