In the Real World, Anakin Skywalker.....

would be consider a war criminal. He's worse than Hitler, Stalin, Genghis Kahn, Attila the Hun, Milosevic, Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein, Tutsis rebels and all the other criminals combined. Yeah, he brought Balance Back to the Force but none of that would have been necessary if he didn't aid the Emperor in the first place. The damage was done. Who's crying out for justice for all the victims, planets, systems and basic genocidal rampage he fostered?

Just a contrarians view or the truth? Is it right to celebrate this asshole?

hitler didn't sound like the lion king and couldn't force choke a bitch from across the room....plus hitlet never made a Burger King Commercial

Seriously....i think it was the Intention of Lucas to make the Empire out to be very much like the nazi's. Evil on top of evil....

the difference comes in the redemption of vader....in the star wars universe people celebrated his death....but for Luke (and the viewers at home) we saw the redemption, and that is worth celebrating

Not just Redemption, the Jedi Order basically bestowed upon him Sainthood along with Yoda and Obi-Wan. Forgiveness and redemption is one thing but he gets to be a blue ghost too? I don't know it just seems like Anakin got off real easy. He got to have his fun and get to heaven too.

Well, if Hermann Goring had killed Hitler, he would have been celebrated a hero.

Um.................no! All of those men killed far more people than Vader. Certainly it's a matter of degrees. Still! Yes, Vader is evil. He was consumed by the darkside. But to suggest he was worse than all of those people combined, each of whom killed and destroyed more than even Vader, is an overstatement. Another major difference is that Vader is a fictional character in a fictional story, in a fictional film. The other despots you mentioned were real people who killed and destroyed life for real.

the Jedi Order basically bestowed upon him Sainthood along with Yoda and Obi-Wan.
Where did you get that from? Nowhere in these films should you get the idea that he is given sainthood. The ability to transcend life in the form of a ghost is not being bestowed sainthood.

Forgiveness and redemption is one thing but he gets to be a blue ghost too?
He's redeemed, not absolved of his sins. According to Christian teachings, anyone can be redeemed. What that means is he willingly gave his physical life to save his son, thus saving billions of lives in the process from the empire. One of the definitions of redeem is to "change for the better." Another definition is to "extricate or to help overcome something detrimental."

Vader is no more celebrated than villians like Hannibal Lecter.

but none of that would have been necessary if he didn't aid the Emperor in the first place.
There would also be no Star Wars films if he didn't. I think you're taking this far too seriously. To be completely honest, I haven't a clue what your point is. You know it's a movie right, as well as a fictional character?

Yeah, Vader's fictional just like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy but we pass judgment and value characters based on what they do. Does Anakin deserve my sympathy? Sure. Some. But not as much as I thought I would. I thought Lucas would have done a better job of convincing me that I should care for this jerk. Anakin was never really innocent or good natured the way Luke was. And thats what I wish Lucas did with Anakin. There was always a vain selfish mean streak about that little kid Anakin. To make Episode III really tragic it had to be like Luke hanging onto dear life in Bespin in ESB and giving in to the Dark Side. But this time not only do we know its coming but its too obvious he is so easily corrupted.

Vader/Anakin was an accomplice to the destruction of an entire planet, Yavin. With that alone he's well ahead in terms of body count I would think. Never mind the rest of the stuff we'll see in Episode III and the stuff he did before he died. I "liked" Vader when he was just Vader. Evil and just unapologetic. No two ways about it. I respected the character Lucas made. But not when his story became a plea for its audience to sympathise with him, because I can't. Not the way Lucas wants me to.

Okay, lets not take this too far. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble or ruin their enjoyment of Episode III. I'm rooting for Obi-Wan and Yoda to kick as much ass while they can.
