I just saw a TV spot for the Adam Sandler remake of The Longest Yard and it started with the narrator saying "Quarterback Paul Crewe was arrested for breaking the law..."

Go figure.

I just saw the commercial and thought it was strange too. It should've been something like "Professional quarterback Paul Crewe has just been arrested"

Yes you can be arrested for a crime you didn't commit without being framed, BUT the reverse logic (upon which the narration relies) does not work.

If you are truly framed you are not arrested for a crime you commited.

In Orson Welles' Touch of Evil, a character is framed for a crime he had actually committed.

That's the one that I was thinking about. It's made even better by the fact that it's the character saying it, not the narrator.
