Best Buy was good to me tonight....25 free DVDs good, that is!

Hey all,

I just went with my Grandma to bestbuy because she wanted to get a Hometheater setup. She ended up buying a bigscreen DLP TV, a home theater sound system, and a bunch of other crap.... Come to find out there was an offer going where you get 25 free DVDs if you spend more than $1,000 on accessories for your theater.....needless to say, we did. So, they gave us a list of 60 dvd's to choose from. My grandma only saw 11 that she liked.... So my wife and I got 14 dvds for free.....right there, in hand. Awesome! Newer releases too, like i-Robot, Dodgeball, etc....

EDIT: (also posted below)

Just for some more amazement -- she just bought her second MP3 player, just wired the house up for wireless streaming audio from the computer/internet. She burns her own CD's, has 4mbps broadband, just bought a 17 inch FlatPanel for her computer, and more.... she rocks... And to the person that was suprised that my Gma just spent $1,000 on a home theater -- well, that $1,000 was just for accessories....not including the TV...haha. She's calling today to upgrade to digital, HD cable...

Ok, tonight I get to hook all this stuff up!

Later,

Matt

Not too shabby,

Matt!

Congrats to both you and granny.

And she's not a member of the forums? We need a grandma around here.....to help keep all the young punks in line.

My grandma just got a dvd player....yours sounds cooler.

That is not a bad deal, on the list are the dvds all about the same value or are some cheaper than others?

I'm old enough to be a grandfather -- not any of yours, but still -- and my goal in life is to die while spending my last dollar on a classy [bleep].

The tricky part will be timing my demise so that all my HT gear is just becoming obsolete. I'd hate to kick off just after buying a new 3D HoloCube that my grandkids will end up fighting over. Let 'em argue over who gets stuck with the ancient 100" plasma, I say.

I think your "class" lady will help herself to your new 3D HoloCube 3000 on the way out. Your kids will be fighting over the $500 bucks you saved for your private going away party.

Hey all,

Yea, My Gma Rocks!....and married. Just for some more amazement -- she just bought her second MP3 player, just wired the house up for wireless streaming audio from the computer/internet. She burns her own CD's, has 4mbps broadband, just bought a 17 inch FlatPanel for her computer, and more.... she rocks... She's calling today to upgrade to digital, HD cable...

you can see the free dvd list on bestbuy.com under the TV section... I'll see if Gma wants to become a member here -- she can give feedback on her equipment...haha

Ok, tonight I get to hook all this stuff up!

Later,

Matt

Question: Did Gammy buy any of the Best Buy PSP stuff? You know .. she does qualify for a free subscription to either SI or EW... if I can just swipe her credit card.

I'm trying to figure out why everyone's so happy about a big Best Buy purchase of equipment. Congrats to you and your grandma.

I bought a new DVD player at Circuit City the other week and got 2 free DVDs. The problem is, the list they had to choose from sucked. I wound up getting Death to Smoochy and the Score.

Of course, my DVD player was only $80 or something like that, so I shouldn't complain too much.

What do you say you hook me up with that receipt number and total amount. I could use a few reward points.

Haha --

Honestly, after reading all of that about my Gma, you don't think she has her OWN rewardzone card....lol.

Later,

Matt
