Guess Who - quick review
I had a good time laughing at Bernie Mac's character's reaction to white boy Ashton Kutcher (Simon) playing the boyfriend of Bernie's daughter Teresa, returning home for Bernie's vow renewal with his wife of 25 years. Pretty decent laughs mined from the black-white tension caused by Simon's presence. Ultimately, it turns out to be pretty heartfelt by the end of the film, and you might even find yourself tearing up from either the laughs or the tugging at the heartstrings.
I give it 3 stars, or a grade of B.

I can't remember a time when there wasn't a "high tensions caused due to racial differences" comedy in the theaters. To this film's credit, though, the premise most often has something to do with mismatched law enforcement partners...

GUESS WHO seems to be a remake of MEET THE PARENTS or MEET THE FOCKERS but uses the racial angle instead.
Problem with GUESS WHO is it just wasn't edgy enough compared to the titles above and just turns into a sitcom. Did the film really need a go-kart sequence?

I had a free movie pass to use so I decided to watch this film tonight. I had no expectations whatsoever and actually ended up liking the movie. There are some funny momements and some very predictable moments as well. Overall, I'd give this film a B+. This was my first time watching an Ashton Kutcher film and he is not so annoying afterall.

I went with about a C- on this one.
A very predictable "comedy" that doesn't manage to be funny in any scene. Switches gears here and there, attempting to break through and be something more (touching and heartfelt), but never really delivers.

I liked the dinner scene when Bernie trapped Ashton into telling all the racial jokes. I was curious the whole time what would be the one that pissed them all off.

It was ok. I think they could've taken some of the sillier scenes out though. With that said,I think the movie had real "heart"...and a quite a few gorgeous Sistahs.
