Looking for traveler's backpack

I'm looking for a a traveler's backpack that's ideal for backpacking through Europe, but isn't gigantic. Any good deals out there? Please keep in mind that I'm already on top ramen budget.

While I'm at it, any advice on getting from country to country for weekend trips from April to July (I'll be mainly studying in Vienna, Austria) besides the Eurail pass?

For my first trip to Europe years ago, I bought a fairly cheap Jansport one here: http://www.rei.com/. They seem to have good deals.

Try reioutlet.com or a coleman outlet at an outlet mall. I have backpacks from both places and are nice and pretty cheap ~100$$.

The Coleman outlet store by me has some really great prices. I needed a new bag for the commute to work. Picked up a brand new large Timbuk2 for $45, they're around $80-$90 new.

I found good deals at Eastern Mountain Sports www.ems.com Their brand is nicely made and they run deals every once in awhile such as the 20% off North Face bags when I purchased mine last year.

I Don't know if you need a plane ticket still but http://www.eurotrip.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=7 was a great help forum for finding a cheap flight. I found a round trip ticket to London for $330 w/taxes fees last June.

This is probably the same information posted above by joesa and bfrank, but:

REI-Outlet.com has 20% off a single regularly priced item today [03/16] only with coupon code MNDEA. Coupon code DVD25 works for 20% off at the regular REI.com, for REI members only.

If it is, then consider it a bump.
