'Sideways' Director, Actress-Wife Split
Wow, this is a surprise, espcially after seeing them be all lovey-dovey for each other at the Oscars. I guess they were just putting on an act. Or maybe Payne just got a big head after winning the screenplay award and just wants to bang some fresh meat.

NEW YORK - Director Alexander Payne and wife Sandra Oh have gone from "Sideways" to parting ways, a spokeswoman told People magazine on Saturday. The Hollywood couple "have mutually decided to separate," the spokeswoman said. "They will remain friends."
The couple met five years ago and married in 2003.
Payne wrote and directed "Sideways," the comedy about two friends on a wine-tasting road trip through California.
The film was nominated for five Oscars (news - web sites), and he shared the Academy Award with his writing partner for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Oh, a former co-star on the HBO series "Arli$$," was one of the stars of the film.

Sad.
Well, we can see her in that new show about medical interns, but I cannot help but wonder why they would split so soon after one achieves such success.

You have it backwards I think. Last I checked the successful marriage rate is 40%, and divorce is around 60%.

Wow, couldn't see this coming. I also get a hunch the movie may have had an Eyes Wide Shut-type effect on their relationship.
Director-actress pairings seem generally to be not such good ideas. Although the director's already healthy ego must get quite a massage...not to mention other parts.
