Do you watch trailers for anticipated movies?
I understand that they are necessary for the pre -movie hype/advertising, but in recent years they just ruin movies. So I've gotten to the point where if there's a movie I plan on watching I avoid all trailers, change the channel during commercials, won't read reviews, etc. This is only for the movies that I know I'm going to be watching. I've also recently started doing it for commercials for TV shows I know I'm going to watch.

I find they only really spoil you if you know something about the movie. Most of the time.
I remember watching the trailer for episode one, knowing everything that was going to happen, and it seemed like everything was being revealed. But really, if I didn't know the whole plot, it wouldn't have.
Star Trek: Generations is a really bad one though, very spoiler filled.

I've noticed a pattern with trailers and their tendency to ruin plot points. If the movie has little to offer in the way of entertainment and intelligence, then the trailer will usually show everything it can in order to get people in the seats, e.g. the biggest explosions, the funniest jokes, the quippiest quips, the most skin, etc.
(Before everyone chimes in with how many times this has been untrue, this is just a vague rule of thumb that I use; there are plenty of movies that break this rule and are still good.)

Actually, trailers have ALWAYS ruined movies. This is not a recent development as many like to think.
In the 1970s, most of the trailers just walked you through the entire movie without care to hide anything.
Personally, I'm not sensitive about spoilers. I watch all the trailers I can.

I don't watch trailers online, too small.
INstead, my cable (Comcast) ON DEMAND menu has an area that has all of the current & upcoming movies trailers avaialble to watch.

I try to avoid them. Sometimes with event movie trailers, it's hard to resist. But if I sense they're giving too much away, I'll stop watching. A recent example was Spider-Man 2. I got about 2/3 of the way through it, and when it became clear it was summarizing the entire film, I turned it off.
Teasers on the other hand are fine. I really wish all trailers were like that.

I love watching trailers. They're like little movies. The ones that are well done show that there is an art to it. Some good ones from memory were Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the latest one), Kill Bill 1, Sin City, Unleashed, Matrix Reloaded and probably heaps more. Oh, the Fantastic Four one is good as well.
I just hate the ones that have too many fade outs (if it's done in a boring way that is), the Kingdom of Heaven trailer has this heaps and really p's me off, while the TCM trailer did it really really well.
