AC/DC "Family Jewels" DVD

AC/DC's 'Family Jewels' March-due

AC/DC DVD: singers get disc each

AC/DC fans will soon be able to own the ultimate AC/DC collection on DVD. The band will release 'Family Jewels', a collection of their videos and early television performances on 28 March in Europe and 01 April in Australia.

AC/DC have never had a greatest hits album and 'Family Jewels' is certainly not designed to be a substitute. "It is not a greatest hits at all" Albert Records CEO Fifa Riccobono told Undercover (Australia) News. "It is a collection of titles shown on TV and clips that have never been commercially released. It shows the band and the changes within the band".

The 2 discs are broken down to the Bon Scott era and the Brian Johnston era. Scott is featured on disc 1 and Johnston on disc 2.

Disc 1 will take us back to the 'Countdown' era with tracks such as 'Baby Please Don't Go' and 'Show Business'. It goes through to a clip of 'Highway To Hell' filmed for Spanish television just 10 days before Scott's death.

The DVD has 2 ½ hours of footage and features 40 tracks.

The tracklisting is:

When they say promotional clip does that mean it's not the full song?

It appears so. To me it would have made a lot more sense to put out all the music videos.

(promotional clip) - Means it a video made to promote the CD (the ones shown on VH1/MTV, etc)

IIRC it's $12 at DeepDiscount and Circuit City and the BB site shows $9.99.

Now do I go by BB tonight to get the Sin City free disc and buy something (not sure what) or wait until Tue. and hope I'm in the area of a BB to get AC/DC and Sin City (if it's still there)?

hmmmm

Hey, I'm in the same boat. However, you might want to save yourself a trip to BB tonight. If you check out the Sin City thread, a few have commented that BB isn't putting out those discs until tomorrow.

I called BB and they put out the Sin City disc tonight so I bought it for .01. Sadly they didn't put out the AC/DC early but they did have a big blank spot in that section for Tuesday.

So does the set feature any complete music videos (e.g. for songs like You Shook Me All Night Long or Who Made Who)?

Picked this up but haven't watched it yet, but I gotta say this is the WORST packaging I've ever seen- the two discs overlap, so basically you've got disc 1 on top with disc 2 sticking out from the top, so you have to take out disc 1 to get disc 2. I already HATE 2-disc sets and I dare anyone to tell me with a straight face this this packaging is better than if they had made this a one disc DVD-18 (2-sided, dual layers on both sides)!
No more 2-disc sets (Unless one or both discs are 2-sided!)

That's the packaging they use on Vol. 3 of SCTV. When I opened it I thought the disc were loose.

Haven't watched it yet, but the packaging says yes to that question.

I skimmed through this last night and it is well worth the $10 I paid at BB. My only gripes so far is that it does not include "Put the Finger on You" and that the beginning part of "Flick of the Switch" is cut off. On the version of FOTS I taped off MTV, there is an introduction part that shows the band in the studio warming up and introduces the musicians. I missed the very beginning of the video before, so I was hoping it would be complete...
