Odd label/artist pairings?
I just listened to this Duane Eddy 2-fer disc that came out in '86 (CD version) and it's on Motown. Weird. I didn't know Motown had any surf guitars in their catalogue.
I remember being very confused when New Order signed with Qwest in the 80's. Didn't picture Quincy Jones going after a band like that. Guess "Blue Monday" and "Confusion" made a big impression with someone at that label. But it's a pretty cool thing.

Probably not what your looking for, but the fact that a label named Virgin would sign a band called the Sex Pistols has always made me chuckle...
Re: New Order/Qwest - I'm sure it was more about NA distribution than anything, and Quincy's also a businessman.
