I think I actually got used to the fact that out of a slipcase they looked kind of book-like on the shelf, especially with the Minas Tirith bookend. Now that I have the slipcase, somehow I just don't think it looks right.

I actually didn't buy the slip case because I like the way the three look on the shelves by themselves. I gave the EE set to my nephew for Christmas and was underwhelmed by the case.

If I were ever going to buy a case, it would be this one from Paul Champagne:

In. But I put them in with the spine facing out and sit the box on the shelf with the spines facing out, so it really doesn't look any different on my DVD rack.

Perhaps completist in the sense you mentioned, but not delusional to the point that we expect to actually get a vote from every member of the forum. This poll will surely be no exception.

I wonder if there's a way to search for the polls that have received the most votes, just for curiosity's sake.

As soon as I get mine, I'll vote... but I'll probably keep 'em in. Though, I like the way they look now. I have 'em angled and offset a little.

Didn't order the box. I prefer the way they look seperately.

I agree. I have all three of the collectors sets, one on each shelf with its appropriate statue.

I actually have mine displayed sideways, as it sticks a bit far out otherwise. I like seeing "The Lord of the Rings" displayed prominently across the side of the box.

I have the three EE's with the Argonath bookends at both sides and then the Gollum and Minas Tirith statues on both side of the Argonath/EE's

Most definitely 'in'. So I can now display this 'box set' along with my other favorites on top of my TV.

Of course, if Peter Jackson ever gets around to making The Hobbit, people might be singing another tune.
