New Esthero EP " We R In Need Of A Musical Revolution " 1-11-05
The last album, " Breath From Another " is one of my all-time favorites. I was excited to read that the new album ( EP ) will be released this tuesday. Any other Esthero fans out there ?

Yup. Found out about this reading one of the free mags I was reading last week.
Haven't heard anything from it yet..

Also, there's a non-album track on the single for O.G. Bitch..

whenever i see these artists name their records something like "we need a musical revolution" i kind of cringe...sure this could end up being a truly special, groundbreaking album...but probably not. i agree we get too many ashanti-esque videos on MTV, but is esthero's album going to be so dramatically different (especially if there's another black-eyed peas collaboration on there)?
i like esthero. i liked her first album. she seems like a quirky girl. but too many of these "diva" types fall into this trap where they accuse others of not being original...in a song that sounds nearly exactly like those they accuse. it ends up being another case of the pot calling the kettle black. and i'm sorry, but a song full of lyrics about "love" and "positivity" is far from a musical revolution.
don't get me wrong. i'm cheering for esthero here. but i'm not holding my breath...

That being said, I really wish Esthero would put out her next cd already. I've been following it's progress through her site and it was ready to come out last spring or something.

I also found out about Esthero from I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. After I heard the song, I went out and bought Breathe From Another, and haven't stopped listening to it since. I've been waiting for Esthero's new album for almost six years. Her full album, Wickked Lil Grls, is due out in Feburary or March.

Well, my girl picked it up for me as a surprise. She actually opened it up before she gave it to me because she was dying to hear it too.
I liked it......different from her other stuff. She has such a great voice, so she can make any song sound good to me. My favorite song was the bonus track ( # 6 ) " Amber and Tiger's Eye " , it reminded me of the old material. All in all it was a nice appetizer, and I can't wait for the new LP later this year.

I picked this up yesterday and listened through it a few times. While it is significantly different from "Breath From Another", I did still like some of the songs. However, I've been looking for more music with a similar sound to "Breath From Another" over the past year, and I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed that this isn't it...
1. We R In Need Of A Musical Revolution
I agree with maxinquaye about "musical revolutions", and this song didn't really do that much for me.
2. Everyday Is A Holiday (With You) (Full-Length)
This song reminds me of "Stricken" by No Doubt. It's just too happy for me to dislike it...
3. Gone (featuring Cee-Lo Green)
This song starts good, but falls apart with the Cee-Lo Green rap. I like a lot of rap, but this just kills the song.
4. This Lull-a-bye
Nice, mellow track. No complaints...
5. I Drive Alone
I think this is my favorite track on the album, but without it playing I can't remember why. I think it gives me more of a "Breath from Another" vibe.
6. Amber & Tiger's Eye
The lack of a coherent melody in this song made it difficult for me to stay interested for the whole thing.
