I, Robot...interpretations and thoughts about the ending?

Hey all,

I really loved I, Robot. I wondered what you're thoughts and interpretations were of the last shot in the movie? What did it mean and where do you think it goes from there? Thanks,

Rip

Eh, that'd be pretty pointless. The movie is an extremely loose interpretation of the shorts, really just taking themes and a couple characters. Basically they took a script called Hard Wired and added Asimov elements to it.

I think it's obvious. Sonny is more than just merely a robot. He envisioned the future and saw that it was he who stopped the robots from overtaking the world.

I thought it was a screen adaptation of Asimov's book. Um, no, it wasn't. At the end they even say "inspired by a book by Isaac Asimov" (or something like that). In other words, the main ideas were his, but the plot and everything else were not. (I've never read or heard of "Hard Wired", might be a good thing to look up).

Anyway, my thoughts on the last scene were that they were setting up a sequel. Ideas on that would be Sonny leading the robots to a different planet to live, or something like that.

By the way, if you liked the movie, borrow the book "The Robots of Dawn" by Isaac Asimov from your local library, great robot murder mystery.

I thought that Sonny was destined to "lead" the robots into a peaceful co-existant relationship with the humans. Not so musch as their servants but as their equals.
