Miramax actually press screened this back in November in anticipation of a big Christmas release (it has already come and gone in the UK). I guess the poor response was enough for them to push it back to February where it can be pawned off as a forgettable romantic selection for couples.
IMO, the film is dreadful. The songs do not work, Martin Henderson is a drip of an actor, the Rai girl overacts like nobody’s business, and the comic relief is unbearable. This is yet another attempt to pimp out Bollywood on American shores, and it doesn’t work at all. I just don’t believe the two cultures/genres can coexist peacefully.
