Tupac's death was the best thing ever for his career. He's released more albums and movies since he died than he did when he was alive.

TuPac was a modern day philosopher. It is a shame that he is gone. Most of the people who don't like him don't understand him. He is a modern day Thomas Jefferson.

heh, wow, i'm 24, liked his music (b4 his death) and i don't agree with any of that. modern day philosopher ?? for who, people on the streets ?? gimme a break, this is a guy who preached "thug life" and looked how he left this world, thats a sad way for a "philosopher" to go. great rapper and all, he hardly spoke for the majority of the people of "our" generation unless you think everyone listens to rap (and I did in my high school years but have stopped and frankly look down on most who listen to it today). his death was shocking (somewhat) but not much other than that.

now back to the thread's original topic, as for it being the "best" documentary ever, thats purely subjective. and I haven't seen it so I can't comment.

My primary memories of Tupac come from him clowning with Digital Underground before he discovered that the "the streets" sell better.

The doco is good, though. But there are better. When We Were Kings leaps to mind.

Anyway, 2Pac dying was no big loss, and he probably wouldn't even be nearly as popular as if he had lived.

yes, this is the poster that wanted to dispute why buffy season 7 recieved only 2 stars and also was the one person who started the buffy is the greatest series EVAR!! thread. So you can understand that he may either be really young and a bit out there.

Tupac is a popular singer, just his documentary and the release of an album at the same time makes it seem more like marketing gimmicks than anything else.

2Pac was a great rapper. But that is all he was.

Gunned down in his prime ... another senseless victim of the bitter East Coast/West Coast butler rivalry. Authorities suspect Mr. French is responsible, but can't prove it.

I think Tupac was incredibly talented, but feel the godlike status he has achieved is mostly due to the fact that he died and the circumstances surrounding his death. This is even worse for The Notorious B.I.G. If both were alive today, I imagine they'd still be prominent names, but their popularity would've cooled down some (a la Snoop, who is an iconic figure in rap now who still makes hits, but doesn't have the buzz of, say, Kanye West). I would also apply this reasoning to Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin in the rock world, and many others.

tupac wasn't even a great rapper...he wasn't a philospher....he wasn't a poet...he was a marketing machine that worked.

I liked Tupac. I think Biggie was overrated.
