New They Might Be Giants live album (download only)

Got a email today from TMBG. The live album is called Almanac and its comprised of 19 songs, all captured from different venues. Its 9.99 to download the whole album and they're giving away for free a seperate 31 song download of the various "venue songs" they write for each place that they play. Haven't heard it yet myself, but I'm a whore for all things Giant, so I'm sure I'll fork over the cash. Anyone out there used to belong the TMBG Unlimited club on emusic a few years back? That was pretty cool while it lasted.

I have been trying to download the albums all day with little luck. Their capability to do this correctly has not impressed me so far. First I had trouble logging in, then the downloads would stop halfway thru, and downloading individual songs didn't work. I wouldn't recommend using this until they get the kinks worked out.

Thanks for the heads up and also the note of caution. I will proceed accordingly.

I would once again warn you to use caution when downloading these. I still have had no luck. I have been trying since yesterday to call the company and no one answers the phone or returns my calls and the e-mail tech support has been useless. I can't understand why a company would not have someone answering the phones on the day they rolled some new product out.

I was impressed with TMBG when I saw them on the Screen Savers(that will probably never happen again). Maybe I'll check this out.

I was finally able to download everything. They sent me an e-mail that there was unexpected demand for this and they were not initially able to handle it. Hopefully everything is OK now. Also, I would recommend downloading an entire show, not the Almanac which is just a compilation of tunes from various shows. Check out all of the setlists and choose the best one.

The Venue Songs are a pretty mixed bag. Most are pretty good and they are a wide range of styles, so it's good that they didn't just keep the same song and change the words and tweak it. Definitely worth having.
