What movie has ever offended/angered you?
Me and my survey threads...
But has a movie ever really upset you? I'm not talking about heavy stuff like "racism" and such, or really shallow stuff like "language", but something rather minor, unimportant, or something just kinda personal.
Mine? Well, I just watched a little bit of the movie "Waking Up In Reno" (Never seen it? Don't bother.) with Billy Bob, Patrick Swayze, and the hottie who was in "Monster". The scene involved Swayze (Spelling? Who cares..), Thorton, Charlize, and some other broad in a car on a road trip, it's night time, they're all gettin' down to the tunes on the radio, and Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" is on, and they're making fun of it. Thorton says, in a sarcastic tone "Now that's songwritin'".
Buddy, you don't have to like Stevie's music, but IF ANYBODY IS CLOSE TO GOD, IF ANYBODY IS ENLIGHTENED, IF ANYBODY IS THE PUREST EXAMPLE OF AN ARTIST AND REALLY IS ON A "HIGHER GROUND", ITS STEVIE FRICKING WONDER!!
I get mad when someone like him is made fun of. Dwight Yoakam produced the movie, so maybe it was a joke making fun of the characters (they're a bunch of ignorant rednecks), and if that is the case then it's funny.
Anyway. Not happy here. Don't go there. I need another pill.
You?

American Beauty unintentionally embarrased me, when the mom commented on growing up in a duplex/not getting to live in a real house. I grew up in a co-op townhouse and it kind of hurt. I was 14 at the time.

a recent docu: entitled "Rolling" where four adults with varying disabilities and how they cope with the daily trials and tribulations of having to depend on wheelchairs. Two sequences in particular really made me really mad, sad, and incredulous: the woman is trying to navigate around the streets of one of the suburbs of LA. The way the sidewalk is configured, a bus stop, a pole and a little bitty sidewalk space, makes it impossible for her to get through. She essentially has to roll her wheelchair into the street to get around this, wow, talk about dangerous - it reallywas quite distressing and angry to witness something like this where one has to put themselves into a situation like this. Another scene where her motorized wheelchair breaks down outside her house and she can't manually wheel herself in. After several hours transpire into the night, a neighbor finally sees her and helps in; the inbetween hours where she is helpless and very emotional is difficult to witness since she is filming herself and literally there is no one to help her. While the film made its point and depicted the hardships of being handicap and self-dependent, it made me very aware that this type of situation is and should be mandatory viewing for city planners to make the suburbs more condusive to handicapp individuals.

I only watched about 20+ minutes of Kids, but that was enough to offend me. That Telly guy sucks.

I don't usually get offended by movies and I am not obese or anything, but "Shallow Hal" really pissed me off that anyone could make a movie like that when I saw it originally in the theater. I still can't stand it and think it is just such an awful movie.

I was pretty upset at the way real animals were killed and tortured in Cannibal Holcausto. I was shocked to see that thread where so many reasonable sounding people were so excited that it's coming out on DVD.

I hate it when I am watching a movie on USA Network, usually accompanied by some KFC or Arby's and the movie is just full of smoking, it just ruins the movie and pisses me off.

who are you referring to? John Cusack and Rachel Weisz's characters? I don't think they made them out to be hero's and they in no way tampered with the jury, in no way! JC got on the jury but was merely caring for the other jury members and talking to them about the facts and what is right as any jury member would do in any other jury. How he got on may have been deceptivly done, but that is all. The only manipulation was done to GH character for the similar gun case that he maliciously won in their hometown that devastated it.
I don't think you got the movie if that is what you saw and thought. Gene Hackman's character was the only tamperer. If that is not what you meant than I apologize

I have never seen Cannibal Holocaust but because I know they killed real animals for the sake of a stupid movie, I know for a fact that would disturb me. I'll stay away from F 911, don't want to ruin this thread. I'll just say that it should begin with a title card that reads "Facts and footage are edited to fit the filmmaker's agenda".
My wife severely disliked Irreversible, she couldn't watch it all.

I'm not that offended, except when they actually kill real animals on film, but that is now never, but really, probably only a few films ever tried that horrible act.
My mom was slighty offended by the way the Irish were treated in Gangs of NY; it didn't bother me. I love that movie.

I was quite offended by Pretty Woman and ended up walking out before it was finished. The idea that a woman's worth is determined by her looks and whether or not she can use them to attract a rich, handsome, and successful man is bad enough, but to have this vile premise lapped up by people who should know better was too much.
