Especially the type of films where they show you the murderer first and you watch him carry through the entire murder. Usually the wife he kills is a total bitch and deserves it. It is not until this happens that the detective shows up. By then I am connected with the killer and actually want him to get away with it.

With the mystery type of film you spend all your time from the detective's point of view and want him to succeed, but with this type they are telling you up front who did it and its almost like they want you to side with him.

Am I just a totally screwed up person or is that what the filmmaker wants me to think?

What started this was I just got the Columbo box set and watched the first movie. I wanted the husband to get away with it and was constantly looking for things he might have screwed up. However, I've done this with dozens of other films as well and just though I would ask if anyone else has felt this way about a film.

They did a study once... and it said that if you have tendancy to choose the bad guy in movies... you were more likely to molest mountain goats...

Well that explains last weekend.
