Nintendo to drop all Player's Choice titles to $19.99 + Zelda WW
Hey all. Toys R US staff have confirmed there are fliers going around announcing all $29.99 PC titles have dropped to $19.99 as of October 5th (Tuesday). Also, Zelda WW is now a PC title.
"According to an inside source, popular toy and video game retail chain, Toys "R" Us, has prepared flyers to advertise a price drop for current GameCube Player's Choice titles, as well as add a new one to the list. Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, Mario Sunshine, and Animal Crossing, all games which have been previously included as Player's Choice titles, are going to drop price from $29.99 to $19.99. As well, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker will make its transition to the collection, however, rather than lower in price later on it will immediately go straight to $19.99.
According to a Nintendo representative, Nintendo is trying to phase out the $29.99 price point to start selling Player's Choice titles exclusively at $19.99. That would explain Wind Waker's quick jump to the lower price. Naturally there has been no official confirmation from Nintendo, but as fans who buy these games ourselves, we certainly hope it's true. Also, there is no established date from the flyer either, however our source stated it could be sometime around the 4th or 5th of October."

Welcome to the party, PAL!
It's about time Nintendo understood the reason for "Platinum Hits/Greatest Hits/Players Choice". If you're going to have a discount line of "hit" games, then everything in that line has to be the same price, not "except Title A and B because we think we can get more for them" - it makes their entire Player's Choice line pointless.
But now? Cool! I might actually buy some of these - especially if the Toys R Us B2G1F sale pans out...
Thanks for the news Gizmo...

Halo still sells a shit load every month. It could still be $50 and people would buy it.
I predict it to become a PH around the time Halo 2 comes out.
Just got a Gamecube, so looks like I'll be getting Zelda on Tuesday.

Sony waited forever to drop Grand Theft Auto 3 in price as well. So yeah, Nintendo is not the only greedy one out there. I agree they should have all the players choice titles at $19.99 though. Glad they finally made that change.

Best Buy must have lowered their prices already, because they were out of stock on all of these games. They were also out of Return of the King and 007: Everything or Nothing, both of which also dropped to $20 recently.

whoohooo finally i can get Zelda WW
though i got pikmin2 and have almost no time to play anything else hehe
i'm also waiting for Mario Kart to drop down in price, all my cheap friends are pestering me about it
i bought mario golf at 50, that was a big mistake since i hardly played it and bam five months later it dropped to 30. so i swore i would never buy another game at 50 unless it's something i really want to play
i'm expecting mario party 5 to drop when mario party 6 comes out.
