What's on your Radar? October 2004
Just thought I'd throw a thread out there for everybody to share what games they are getting/considering/interested in for the next month. Just to spark some discussion and perhaps give people an idea of what's coming up.
Here's my list:
Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude (PC, 10/4) -- Chances are that I won't get this at all, but it is "on my radar" as I was a fan back in the day of the other games. If the reviews are outstanding, I might consider it.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (GCN, 10/11) -- This looks to be a solid title. I never played the last Paper Mario game for N64, but I did play Super Mario RPG on the SNES a bit. I'm considering it, if I get the hankering for this sort of game.
Outrun 2 (Xbox, 10/26) -- I loved playing the original in Arcades, and this looks fun. Not sure if I'll pick it up, though. I need to try the demo in this month's OXM first.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (PC, 10/26) -- Solid license + Troika + Source engine = I'm there! This has the makings of a great game. I'd love to see a demo come out.

I liked the first one, though Didn't play it much. I was much more interested in the Game master aspect of it.
This game, from the pictures and reviews I have read, sounds like it should be a solid hit.
Can't wait to play.

PC (and some Xbox)
Vampire: Bloodlines - Source Engine, vampires, rpg elements... can't go wrong.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - been waiting for what seems like forever
Black - "everything killer"
Pariah - Unreal team's new game, looks and plays alot like Unreal
Project: Snowblind - *drool*
Evil Genius - love a good strategy game
Need for Speed Underground 2 - this and several other racers will keep me in high rpms for quite awhile.
Destroy All Humans! - Amazing
Black - long way off
Area 51 - playing it at E3 proved to be highly entertaining. The PS2 version controlled brilliantly... best controls for a FPS on the PS2 ever. The Xbox version controlled great as well. Not to mention that the graphics and gameplay are awesome.
Half-Life 2 - duh
Matrix Online - I have my eye on it, but probably won't get it. I'm just curious as to how well it will work.
Call of Cthulhu - had my eye on this for a long time, but my interest in it has been slipping away every time I see something new about it. I think they're making it more and more bland compared to what it was supposed to be originally. Plus, the graphics are looking more and more dated as time goes on.
Everquest 2 - never played the original, but have my eye on this as something I might try. I wan't to check out the MMORPG thing, but can't pick a game to start with.
Star Wars: Republic Commando - hopefully it will deliver a good game, console demos I've seen don't look up to it, but I have hopes for the PC version.
Black and White 2 - I'm one of the few who liked the first one.
Brothers in Arms - this will be the best WW2 game ever made and I will get it.
KOTOR 2 - The first one didn't do much for me at first, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I'll get this and Jade Empire for sure.
Battlefield 2 - I'm tired of the engine and I didn't like BF Vietnam, but I'll give it one last chance.
The Movies - Ambitious game conceptually, and I hope it works.
Outlaw Golf 2 - gonna wait and see video reviews and demos before I jump in, but the first one was tons of fun.
Bard's Tale - One of my most anticipated... and my most dreaded. I hope they don't screw it up.
Urbz - Sims in the City - Anxious to play it... the demo I saw was great.
Blinx 2 - The demo was great and I actually liked the first one.
Ghost Recon 2 - Are you kidding me? Between this and the next Splinter Cell, I'm never leaving the sofa.
PS2
Ghost in the Shell - I don't know if it'll be good or what, but this and the Cowboy Bebop game look interesting.
GTA San Andreas - duh
There's actually a few others that are multiconsole and some that are exclusives that I can't think of right now.

Paper Mario 2, but I'm not picking it up anytime soon.
Metroid Prime 2, and the LOTR RPG if it's well reviewed, will probably be all I pick up this fall with my limited budget and limited free time, coupled with a few games I already have and need to play through.

Going for Outrun 2 this month, visit http://www.xbox.com/outrun2 for more info.
Played the OXM demo disk version and it rocks, graphics are not as good as PGR2 but it wasn't meant to match that game, however the draw distance is great so you can see the upcoming corners. Sound is amazing, just like the arcade machine.
And it is only $39.99

I have Paper Mario 2 pre-ordered. Never played the first but people seem to rave about it, so I'll give it a try. Have it preordered through the gamerush deal.
Thats all I have for October. Although I will be picking up Donkey Konga tomorrow, which is technically October. I have it preordered at gamerush but my Def Jam didn't come in until Friday, so I figure I will try to pick up DK on Friday as well.

Guys, let's try to limit the discussion to games that are coming out next month, just so the topic doesn't get too broad.
BTW, Trigger...Evil Genius came out a couple days ago. I tried the demo. Basically "Dungeon Master" meets "Austin Powers." It was fun.

Trigger. The demo of Blinx 2, was it playable?
I loved the concept of the first one and had a bit of fun with it. But I had to put it down and never finish it(glad I rented it) because of the camera work that made it very hard to see where you were going or what you needed to do.
If they fixed that, I might pick it up. At least I will rent it.

There was a playable Blinx 2 demo on one of the recent OXM discs. This month's OXM just had videos of the game.
I didn't have any trouble with the camera in Blinx 2 (then again, I didn't have much trouble with the camera in the first one either), but it might be something you need to play for yourself. There's some new features in it that are pretty cool. At certain points, something will shoot buckshot at you or whatever and you go into Matrix mode and have to chose a side to dodge... dated effect, but kinda adds a new dimension to the gameplay. Also, the puzzles make alot better use of the time sweeping skills at your disposal.
