I distinctly remember seeing this movie advertised, and I could have sworn it was a PG-13 film. I was told that the original cut is PG-13, while Gilliam's Director's Cut is R. Could someone clear this up for me. Also, I'm thinking of getting the Criterion Collection of this, and I am dissappointed the film is not presented in Anamorphic Widescreen, is the picture still ok?

This is one of the best CC releases. And evethough it doesn't state so on the box , the movie is indeed rated R.

The movie has always been rated R.

It's rated R but I can't even remember why. If it came out this year it might even get a Pg-13. If I remember correctly its pretty tame for an R.

Probably because of all the burned/mutilated people after the bomb attacks. Or the liquified corpse.

Or, if that didn't do it, probably the sex scene near the end.

Oh yeah thats right I totally forgot about the sex scene at the end. Well, not really sex but you do see bare breasts.
