SW Battlefront xbox system link, yay or nay? Anyone know
The official Star Wars Battlefront site does not mention system link capabilities but Xbox.com says it will be 2-10 players via system link and 2-16 via Live. I am just wondering if anyone out there has the knowledge of if system link is a feature in this game. Lucas Arts (along with EA Games
) usually sucks when it comes to system link but they have done it before (Clone Wars).

what I have read in magazines is 16 Lan-wise and 32 on live. But magazines go to print early, that could have changed in the past month or so.
10 is an odd number.

I doubt it would be 32 on live, they already have lag problems with 16 player games. The offical website says 16 for live anyway. I went to eb games tonight and they had an empty marketing box on display that said 2-10 system link, this doesn't mean that it is true however. I don't understand why the official website wouldn't list it though?

How does that work out? 5 X-boxes? 10 x-boxes?
or
1 with 4 players and 3 with 2 each?
or
2 boxes with 4 and 1 with 2?
or
3 boxes with 3 and 1 with 1?
It just seems like an odd configuration no matter how you look at it.

I need more info, because if that is the case, I'll drop my pre-order and wait til it hits $20. I have about 10 guys over to play about once a month and we were all planning on getting this. But if only 5 can play, then Lucasarts shot themselves in the foot. I mean Halo, the very first game on X-box can handle 16 and here we are 3 years later and only a handful of games can do it. What a waste.

10 is not so odd usually only 1 person per box such as Unreal 2.
fyi Counterstrike does support 16 players in a lan. To do this you need a Dedicated System be the server. The ones you see online that have 16 player slots are dedicated servers. For a lan to play more than 8 players of CS they need an xbox to be a dedicated server. Then you can have 9 - 16 players. So to do a 16 player lan of CS you need 17 xboxes and 17 copies of CS.
(16 players 1 server box)
Other games that have dedicated server option:
Unreal Championship
Unreal II
Splinter Cell: Pandora's tommorrow
Jedi Academy
Probably others I forgot.
Hope the info helps!

I already knew all that but it might help someone else. All I was saying was that if the game is already set up and can handle 16 players on xbox live, why not go ahead and make the game 16 players system link also?

I'm not sure what I was getting at in the previous post but I get that. What I am wanting to find out is a solid confirmation as to the number Xboxes(and copies of the game) that have to be linked to get 10 players.

IGN answered my email. 1 player per tv, per xbox. LAME.
I'm probably gonna cancel now, wait for it to drop to around $20. I can hold out a few more weeks for Halo 2 anyway.

Sure. We all play in my basement, which is roomy, but not that roomy. We could come up with 10 boxes and games, it is the tvs that are an issue. I have 4, but damn that is a hassle for 4 player action. 13" or 19" would be perfect to lug around, but no one I know has one.
