Furniture help. Need a low profile entertainment center.

It needs to be no more than 2' high, but would like it as wide as 6 feet, but can deal with less.

Ever seen one?

I get the feeling this may be something I have to build.

you mean like a TV stand? I don't think they make 2 foot high entertainment stands. Well, maybe special order ones for El Scorcho.

Not a tv stand. My new system is a front projection and I need all my components underneath it, as well as my center speaker.

Why not a TV stand? I've seen several of those ones at Best Buy for the table top rear projection sets, that have separate compartments for components.

This entertainment center probably has a higher profile than you want but is more likely to impress your guests.

Is this what you're looking for? :

For example:

http://www.ikea-usa.com/webapp/wcs/s...ts=10104*10174

Width: 43 1/4 "
Depth: 17 3/4 "
Height: 13 3/8 "
Max. load: 132 lb

or

http://www.ikea-usa.com/webapp/wcs/s...ts=10104*10174

Width: 55 1/8 "
Depth: 23 5/8 "
Height: 15 3/4 "
Max. load: 154 lb

There's a bunch more. Those are just the TV stands, then you pick from the matching design and you can build an entertainment center by adding the necessary side pieces.

How about something like this?

Lots of stuff at the BOLTZ website. Pricey, but looks great and lasts.

I'd look at www.can-am.ca

Take two of their units, side by side, and it would be just over 6' long, and just under 2' high, as well as having a bunch of different types of cabinets to choose from.

It would also be $500!

Try this one, I've got one and it's very sturdy. You'll be impressed with the build quality too:

Dimensions are right within your range. $50!!

Just bought this for my own TV yesterday

Fits Receiver and center channel perfectly. Each "cubby" is ~21" x 9" x 23" (w x h x d) It's a little pricey ($899), but very well made and looks nice (and well worth the money IMHO ) It's 68" wide.

The doors also come with glass and wood inserts so you can pick and choose what you want in there (I'll probably go for glass so the remotes still work correctly, but keep out most of the dust).

Here's the darker one with the glass inserts

Actually, it would be more, with shipping, and even more if he went with the 3-unit high ones, vs the 2-unit high. Oh, and add another $250 if you want the nice mica top.

But he didn't mention how much he wanted to spend, so I figured I'd throw this out there.

Did some measuring last night, and I can't go any higher than 18" so I decided to buy two pieces of plywood and make my own. Have it designed and should take about 3 hours.

By chance does that "design" include a couple of cinder blocks?

Not anymore.

You want my wife to read this forum and spoil her present?
