"crunching" noise from speakers
I have an issue when I either change channels on digital cable or if there is a layer change or menu switch on the dvd, my center or surround speakers make a static crunching noise for 3 seconds. Sometimes it makes a high pitch noise that won't go away until I choose another source and go back to the original one. I had the same equipment going into my cheaper sony receiver with no problems (80w) but I have an Elite VSX41 (110w) now that this is happening to. On both sources I have both the analog and digital outputs hooked up. Until I upgrade my speakers later this year I have some cheap JBL's for my center and rears and some bose (don't laugh) as my mains. These noises only seem to come from the JBL's. Do you think it is anything to do with the speakers or is it my fear that the receiver isn't acting right when the source selected has an interupt like changing channels and trips on that? Thanks for any input......well positive input anyway; )

Hmm hard to say.
It sounds like there maybe an issue with your cables. I would first check all the speaker cables to make sure that they are tight, not touching at the receiver or speaker end. Then I would check all of your source cables, tight and connected properly.
I would then try to isolate the problem futher. Play a cd and see what happens. Then try a dvd or just the tv if you are hooked up that way.
