Ya all!
Just wondering if there are any other Mars Volta fans lurking around here. De-Loused in the Comatorium is the bestest album ever!! Anyone else dig these guys??

I was a fan of At the Drive-in, so I was interested to hear both groups that emerged from the breakup (Sparta & Mars Volta). Sparta is ok, but I think Mars Volta is a much better band.

The Mars Volta is indeed better than Sparta and 'Deloused...' was a very good album but I think the hype surrounding The Mars Volta is a little better than the music. Having said that I'm still expecting big things from their next release. They're one to watch.

I loved at the Drive in, and I love Mars Volta even more. I also bought the Sparta cd when it came out, but am unimpressed with them. Maybe I should try the new cd.

I saw the Mars Volta about a year ago in concert, and let me tell you -- their live show is phenominal. 'De-loused' has remained in steady rotation on my CD player since its release (to this day), and the booklet that GSL put out about it is fascinating.
Even though each group formed from ATDI, comparing Sparta and the Mars Volta is kinda like comparing apples 'n' oranges. Sparta is pretty straight-ahead rock, whereas TMV is ... well ... yeah.

I've listen to Omar's solo album, and it's very umm....slow and noisy.
Too experimental in my opinion.
But I love ATDI, and The Mars Volta.
Sparta is also good for straight ahead rock music.
Sparta is better than most rock bands out there.
I saw them open for Pearl Jam and they were pretty good.
I've seen The Mars Volta twice and liked them both times.

I dig The Mars Volta, but I saw them live at a A Perfect Circle concert, and I thought they were one of the worst live bands I've ever seen. I was pretty disappointed. Anyone else caught them live and have opinions to the contrary?

I've seen them live four times now.
The first two times I thought they were horrible, as I didn't have their cd, and they were a support act for the peppers.
I then saw their first single's video, and was amazed by how good it was. Then the third time I saw them at a festival, right there it struck me. Couple of days after that I bought their cd, played it under heavy rotation. Then got to see them in a club, 2 hours long, great!
Can't wait for the new album.
