Lack of speaker shielding - is it harmful?

My speakers are not magnetically shielded, and cause slight discoloration of the TV on the lower left and right corners. I really don't have space to move them farther away from the TV, and the patches are small enough to be tolerable. But I was wondering if leaving the speakers so close to the TV set (2 cm) would cause any long term damage to the TV?

Distance?

I don't think my speakers are magnetically shielded either. How far away from the TV do they need to be without doing damage? Right now they are probably 6 inches or from the actual screen.

Also, is there any way to find out if my speakers are magnetically shielded?

Thanks.

If you do not see any distortion on the tv screen then you should be ok.

To find out about your speakers check the manufacturer website or the owners manual.
