Should the Beatles and The Who combine?

I got this idea somewhere and it seems so stupid that it makes sense. The Who have lost a drummer and a bassist, the remaining Beatles just happen to be the drummer and the bassist. This makes way to much sense to simply be a coincidence.

Think of all the new ways they could play each other's songs and let's see if everyone could stand McCartney's controlling style or if he could get bitchslapped again.

Oh yeah, like Pete Townsend isn't controlling

I don't think they'd get past the volume-setting stage

Seriously, I love both groups for what they are/were. It's an interesting premise but I'd really not want to see them combine.

But their musical styles were so different. I might be an interesting result. BUt I agree, I just don't see their egos meshing very well. I'm sure Ringo would be fine with it though

Isn't The Who having Ringo's son as their drummer close enough? I don't think Paul or Ringo are cut out to play Who songs like they're meant to be played (Ringo's son was taught by Keith Moon, not his daddy).

I do wonder why more older musicians don't just combine forces since there's tons of potential for something interesting, or at least something to laugh about.

1. I think it would be a bad idea.

2. Some of McCartney's and Townshend's solo works are among the finest rock albums recorded, Band on the Run and Empty Glass particularly.

3. Zack Starkey is drumming for The Who. He played with them last year when I saw them, and did an excellent job.

There is no way that Ringo could drum Keith Moon's bits. I like Ringo a lot, but he and Keith are at opposite ends of the drumming ability scale.

You are correct sir. Ringo can keep time and Keith couldn't.

They were both great drummers and worked well within their respective groups, but their styles are/were very dissimilar. Ringo was the backbone of The Beatles' sound, whereas Keith was more ornamentation for The Who's.

Well, 'the kids' today who don't know about classic rock would have the jokes set up for them:

Who? The Beatles?
