Direct TV: its guide slightly off schedule affects my timer recording. Correction?

When I program my RCA SAT receivers to turn to a specific channel through the Direct TV guide, the timing is off a minute. With TMC, it's even worse. The result is that sometimes you have a recording missed a little of the opening credit or with TMC, you missed some ending.

Just to clarify. I set the program to be recorded by using the guide on the receiver and hi-light it for recording so the receiver will tune to that channel when the movie is scheduled to come on. Then I set my DVD recorder with a hard drive to coincide with the time. I always set my DVD recorder to start recording a few mintues early and to stop a few mintues late. However, with the direct tv receiver, if I want to make sure I don't miss the beginning or ending, I have to go into the menu under my programmed list and edit it to start early and stop late.

Why is that? My receiver has a time that I assume can't be changed because it's reading off the satellite. If that's the case, then why are these channels off. It's not much but even to affect the recording. With the TMC (The movie channel), it could be off a few mintues which is a real big deal (e.g. the guide said it starts at 8 and end at 9:30 but the movie starts 8:03 and end at 9:35.)
