Fogerty's "Deja Vu (All over again)"

Earlier today I heard the newest from Fogerty entitled "Deja Vu (All over again)" In the song, John compares the current Iraq war to Vietnam with various allusions, and I think it really works. Similar to his anti-Vietnam songs, it works as a poppy song if you don't listen to the lyrics, but when you do pay attention, it takes on a deeper meaning that can only be met with respect.

The only problem is that the song is so new I can't find a way to get it (neither legal, nor not so legal means have revealed ways of getting the song) I guess I could call and request it...

It looks like the new album is not due until the fall.

Here's the lyrics though:

DEJA VU (ALL OVER AGAIN)

Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Did you try to read the writing on the wall
Did that voice inside you say I've heard it all before
It's like Deja Vu all over again

Day by day I hear the voices rising
Started with a whisper like it did before
Day by day we count the dead and dying
Ship the bodies home while the networks all keep score

Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Could your eyes believe the writing on the wall
Did that voice inside you say I've heard it all before
It's like Deja Vu all over again

One by one I see the old ghosts rising
Stumblin' 'cross Big Muddy
Where the light gets dim
Day after day another Momma's crying
She's lost her precious child
To a war that has no end

Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Did you stop to read the writing at The Wall
Did that voice inside you say
I've seen this all before
It's like Deja Vu all over again
It's like Deja Vu all over again

That's a broad generalization. What if I don't respect such a message?

All the more reason that he wants you to hear it.

A very troubling and facist attitude. But John Fogerty knows whats good for me though, right?

regardless of where i stand on the issues, i usually find songs with politically charged lyrics to be a little too hard to get into. especially if they're really wordy. i'm in it for the music, not for a preaching. see: Morrissey's latest, Quasi's latest, Mike Doughty, etc.

that's just me, though, and i really can't wait to give Fogerty's new work a go.

If you meant fascist you may want to look into the definition as well as the spelling.
