Very nice. Go Spiderman. Will it be this weekend or next I'll go see it again?

For those playing the HSX game it looks like FH911 will be making upwards of $87 million by next weekend

what a huge number from this movie.

Spiderman is having over a 50% drop from last weekend so it does look like it will end up with lower numbers than the first movie.

It has a huge amount of competition over the next few weeks.

I'm surprised Anchorman got that close to Spider-Man. I was expecting Spider-Man to run away with it this weekend.

And whats up with Arthur I thought it was supposed to be decent. Then again I had no clue it was opening this weekend.

Looks like people weren't fooled by the Arthur promos that tried to paint it as historical.

Or the ones with Keira Knightly wearing paint.

I was actually expecting Anchorman to best Spidey, but glad it isn't though both are good IMO. Why was the earlier poster ready to write off Spidey already? It's already got a crapload of money and will no doubt stick around the top five for a while. Is a movie now considered a flop if it doesn't make $300 million in under seven days?

King Arthur not performing. What does this mean for Eisner at Disney?

Well, they didn't fire him for Alamo or losing Pixar, so I think he's still safe. Watch The Invincibles be a major hit and get him another year of job security.

Well let's boycott Invincibles then. Another bomb and Eisner is out!

I would think the Incredibles being the only success for Disney would kill Eisner. This would remind stockholders that the only success is from Pixar that Eisner lost.

I think that King Arthur will actually end up being a sucess based on overseas money and dvd sales they should make money off of it. I would not be surprised to see Around the World in 80 days being profitable leaving only Alamo as a loss overall.

Buena Vista is just having a horrible year at the box office so far. Their biggest earner so far this year is Hidalgo at $67,193,906, followed by Kill Bill Vol. 2 at $65,705,158 and Miracle at $64,371,181. The rest?

My Baby's Daddy ...$17,321,573
Jersey Girl ...$25,266,129
Ella Enchanted ...$22,755,428
Teacher's Pet: The Movie ...$6,491,350
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen ...$29,302,097 Ladykillers, The ...$39,665,353
Home on the Range ...$49,436,574 ($110,000,000 budget)
Alamo, The ...$22,261,162 ($92,000,000 budget)
Raising Helen ...$36,168,013
Around the World in 80 Days ...$20,977,449

They pass on Fahrenheit 9-11, they get the lesser of two Lindsay Lohan vehicles, and all their supposed big releases are underperforming, if not outright tanking. At this point, calling them "Di$ney" just isn't accurate. At least they have a few possible winners (besides the obvious Incredibles, but even that film's success will be sorta like a kick to the nuts due to the upcoming split with Pixar.)

"another Bruckheimer dud"? He's only ever made one or two films that could be considered "duds" from a financial standpoint (even stuff like Pearl Harbor made tons upon tons of profit)... also, is spelling his name without a "k" supposed to be funny? I'm seriously asking, because you've done it before.

Yes, that's one.

Wouldn't have even been much of a loss if they hadn't spent so much on bloody awful advertising...
