What do you guys think of Exorcist III?

I was pondering of getting the dvd of Exorcist III since it was less than $10 but would like to get the opinions of the movie gods here.

I have read that the movie itself is slow and doesn't have as much "shock" value as the first movie. I really do not mind such as long as it is involving. Besides, nothing is worse in a horror movie than tacked-on scenes of victims screaming while the camera chases them around.

Thanks!!!

I like it - it's very entertaining, however sometimes a bit primitive.

It's definitely worth 10 bucks - esp. since it has a bunch of weird/scary scenes. George C. Scott is great in it too, and the movie def. has its share of funny moments.

And one....VERY....scary....scene....

From: in Austin, probably stuck in traffic.
The scene with the nurse alone is worth
the ten bucks.

I highly recommend you pick it up - It's one of my favs.

Many would disagree but I think it's actually creepier than the first as far as mood, tension, & score (yes, I love the score - while there isn't much, the parts you do hear it in will freak you the hell out) go.

The conversations in the cell will have you begging for more as well..........just messed up stuff.

Funny this thread came up, a couple of friends and I were out last night drinking and two of us told the other he needed to see it.

Oh yeah, watch it with all the lights off and blast the sound - don't skip this one!!!!

For me, the nurse scene was so effective 'cause I was almost asleep--the movie was so boring up to that point, then....well, you'll just have to watch it. It is definitely worth it, for that scene alone. Lights out, volume up+++.

Very unnerving film. Walking down any dark corridor, I'm still checking over my shouder. Just thinking about it has creeped me out and now I have to walk down the hallway to have dinner. I think I'll run.......

Highly recommended.

Great film,very effective and unsettling.

If you have a short attention span and expect alot of profanity and disturbing effects like the original. You will be severely disappointed.

Then again, the original is VERY slow as well,so I don't get how anyone could find this film 'boring'? Especially since the pace is quite nice and flows well in my opinion.

Worth picking up,you can still find a copy from time to time in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart.

Yeah, I picked it up for a song just the other day. I'll pick up Part II when the price comes down.... it can wait.

I remember watching the movie when I was younger... I had to keep looking at the ceilings whenever I went into a room.
It scared me when I first watched it, mainly because

"III" was definitely more psychological than "I". It didn't rely on any shock or special effects. And it definitely gets under your skin. It's tough to compare the two. And really not fair to do so. They're completely different types of horror films. Both excellent IMO. Now if we could just strike that awful second one, and rename "III" to "II"

Best horror movie of the 1990s.

Much better than both Exorcist II (obviously) and The Exorcist (not so obviously).

Don't miss it.

Thanks for all your replies.

I finally bought it and manage to only see the 1st hour.

Nevertheless, fm the start of the film, there is a sense of foreboding dread and terrifying evil throughout.

Even the offscreen murders were most effective because of the methods described. Though the killings were just implied, the details were quite graphic and lets your imagination do the "scaring" for you.

So glad I got it.

Been a fan of Exorcist III for a long time. An underrated, over-looked movie.
